Title: semi poor mans full system s2r eighthundred
Post by: the ron on May 15, 2008, 03:37:36 PM
my stock system was adequate looks wise,  i mean the shot gun style cans. but the hideous catylaic converter just had to go. so i invested in a marvin cat eliminator.  but before i got a chance to install it i found a deal on a leo vince 2 into 1 exhaust, so i bought it. i originally priced out systems for my monster and they were around the 2000 dollar range. so my original investment or 365 for the cat eliminator and the 600 for the leo vince was a psuedo bargain. after installing my 2 into 1 with the stock cat it became appearent that i would need to do some fuel injection mapping when i installed my eliminator. the loss of low end with just the can was suprising to me. it was like going from a 14 tooth front sprocked to say a 14:1/2 tooth sprocket. not as  bad as the stock 15 tooth but almost.

i decided to go with the pc 3 and i had John from dyno solutions install and map it for me.

what a difference ;D my s2r now feels like a s2RR!! not that i am one for a racing motor, but it definatly runs much smoother than i ever though it would. plent of low end and it pulls all the way through the rev range.

and the sound? sounds amazing. nice and deep and loud. i love to blip the throttle and downshift when meeting up with friends. i always find myself fashionably late just for that purpose.

any complaints, well, one actually. sometimes it seems the motor runs to smooth. it has seemed to have lost its chuggyness. i find myself riding a gear high now, just so i get some of that low chuggy effect.

all in all i give marvin, leovince and dyno solutions an A + [thumbsup]

TOTAL COST OF SYSTEM:
Marvin cat eliminator 365
leo vince 2 into 1       620
dyno pc3 and
some install work      580

TOTAL                     1565.00

What do you think? did i save some money, or should i have done my system not so um, piece meal.
anyhow, i am so satisfied with it so i guess it worked out okay for me

The $620 for the Leo 2 into 1 isn't a great deal. Infact, it really isn't even a good deal. I sold mine for $350 a few months ago it it only had a few thousand miles on it.

leo vince system arent that popular. (they dont look that nice IMHO). But as far as how much you put into it, its good as long as you liked it.

Thought for  $1600 bucks it would be HARD for me not to justify the cost of an Rapid Bike unit and a Exbox!

Sounds like a good deal to me, considering your previous frustration with the "low end gone" issues. Smoothness and a customized map must be worth quite a bit. Plus you got the 2/1 you wanted.

What's next?

Lets see some detailed Pics.  Calibrate the OD of the OEM exhaust & calibrate the OD of your new system. Is the new system OD larger?

I like you, you are always so positive. maybe because you don't live in the U.S. anyhow, i plan on ceramic coating the whole exhaust, gloss black stem to stern. that way it will match the rest of the frame. i plan on leaving the hanger clip and the ends aluminum though. i am also going to powder coat the footpegs kickstand. thats it for the summer. i want to powder coat the swingarm, forks, triple trees and bars, but i will wait for the off season to take that much of my bike apart. i reckon it will take me a while to put it back together.

i will post pics when i ceramic coat the pipes. not to make you wait or anything, but i figure that will give me time to figure out how to post pics and do all of that calculating you asked for. geeze, calculate 0d,s what does that mean? its going to cost me more to hire someone to figure out that answer than the system cost me.

i am going to post a new thread this is how it goes

2006 s2r w/ leo vince 2 into 1 and some other mods in exchange for professional mathematics professor. you know a good will hunting type [cheeky]

lol,,,,,no,, its not that complicated. Ummmm,,, if U have a big enough adjustable wrench,, size it over the Outer diameter of the stock exhaust. Finger tighten it snug. Pull the wrench off, Then measure. Do the same on your new exhaust. I just wanted to see if they made the After market exhaust larger.

OEM on the S4RS is 45 mm. The Termi's are 50 mm. The 800 OEM exhaust is probably abot 40 mm,, just a guess.

Ron,

Since you in the local area, I have a guy who does my powdercoating. Quick turn around time and he gives me a deal!

Shoot me a pm if you want the info.
