Title: 1000DS flywheel/rotor markings question
Post by: colin748916 on April 01, 2009, 02:06:40 PM
When the horizontal cylinder of my 2006 S2R1000 DS engine is at TDC, is it one of the many dots on the rotor that is suppose to line up with the arrows in the looking glass? If so, what is the line markings on the rotor for?

When the vertical is on TDC, what to look for in the looking glass? Dots or lines?

My old 748 flywheel weight has two dots, one for each cylinder at TDC. My '06 DS has two lines an a lot of dots but nothing lines up exactly in the looking glass even when the horizontal piston is at top, the belt drive pulley lines up with the mark on clutchcover, both campulleys line up with their marks on belt covers.

Can the rotor be bolted not correctly to the Kaemna alu flywheel? If so it would have to be be at 45/90/135... degrees out.  Can it be the center splines of the alu flywheel wearing out and the whole flywheel+rotor assembly is rotating out of alignment from the crank? The engine runs ok.
