My speedo pick-up (on the rear) is starting to wear. It's a stock '03 m1000 part. Does anyone know if they same ones are used pretty much throughout the monster/sport classic/SS line? I'm just wondering if I can get a replacement off fleabay. Thanks, gang.
P.S. Yes, I know the earlier speedo are mechanical and won't fit.
P.P.S. Yes, I could go and compare parts numbers for a billion different bikes to see if they match. But I'd rather first see if anyone here knows off-hand.

'02 and later DSS Monsters have the same sensor part#, 55240371A, at least the 8 of 'em I checked did.
I suspect all of the Ducs with the 5.9 ECU use the same sensor, but may have different cable lengths.
The few SSS Monster catalogues I checked had a part# 55240371B.
Instead of FleaBay, I recommend you PM Kawazar and find out who his dealer is, and order it there. ;D

It's not exactly "wearing out." That was a poor choice of words. Some of the rubbber snapped off and there's something going on with the wiring. It's only sometimes picking up (made worse by when I do wheelies). I could do a DIY fix to the rubber and probably get to the bottom of the on/off problem. But it might continue to be an issue. I'd just as soon get a replacement for $30-$40. Right now and with that particular part, I'd rather just replace it that than futz around.

It is all opinion. I'm sure there's plenty of people out there that would say the same thing about horse piss (which is what PBR is derived from).

Do you have high mount exhausts? Mine was messing up on me awhile back, needle would dance all around while at a stop light, I'd be cruising along at about 60 and it would read 20. Turns out the wire was touching the exhaust off the top cylinder, melted through the insulation and the wires cam into contact with the exhaust pipe causing the wires to kind of "short" which made the speedo go all crazy. Fixed it with some electrical tape and some heat wrap, rerouted the wire and brake line which had melted insulation also. May wanna check that out first.

I've got custom pipes. Low mounts, but at a more upswept angle. I checked already, but I'll double check that nothing's wrong with the rest of the wiring. The speedo cable runs along the brake stabilizing rod. The pic below is cropped, so sorry about the crappy quality.

Looks like its running right next to the pipe, check to see if the insulation is melted. If that doesn't do it try some dielectric grease in all the connectors.
I'd reroute the cable and brake line just to be on the safe side anyway. BTW that bike looks awesome, got anymore pics?
