Title: Where to buy timing belt rollers? DS engine
Post by: M1000sie on April 02, 2009, 04:10:03 PM
Im going putting new belts on my monster with the DS engine and since I left my belt covers off 1 of the rollers isnt so smooth. Id like to replace all 4 for peace of mind but there very expensive at the dealer. Any places online that sell these? Maybe its a universal type bearing? TIA

Also this may be dumb but if I took the heads off to adjust the valves could I reuse the gaskets...

Outrageous prices for these ''maintenance'' parts IMO

85 for each belt    need 2
30 for each roller  need 4
140 for head gaskets....

 Google (motion industries).
If it's a bearing,they have it.

This will help you a little more,

Type 6201-2RS in google. Should solve half of your problem. I'm assuming this is what you need 4 of. They are dirt cheap. You can get a 10 pack for $10ish dollars
BTW.. these fail 90% of the time because the belt was tensioned too tight.. Just FYI.

I dont know where to get the other rollers. if you find out please post.

Oh and one more thing, be prepared to have an extension socket sized exactly the diameter of the inner race (center metal ring) and a hydraulic press for putting these suckers back on..

And one more thing...if you're not getting the tensioner bearings from Ducati, make sure the ones you do get are made by SKF, NTN or another reputable bearing company.  In general, if they say Japan, USA or a European company they're OK.  If they have China on them and a lot of them do these days,  don't use them.  Some Chinese bearings might be OK but IMHO it's just not worth the risk of experimenting with them to save a few dollars.

Thats a big +1 Just google SKF along with that part number and you'll be covered.

Thanks for the help. I assumed these rollers bolted on... This is for the DS1000 engine.2 are the same size and 2 are not, Im gonna check the part number and hopefully it will give dimensions so i can confirm the correct part. Thanks again

ya that part number works for the bigger ones, thanks alot. Now I need to find the smaller ones, like 23mm outer diameter
