Title: Where can i get a good deal on Termis?
Post by: ducaTT on April 03, 2009, 05:54:16 AM
All,

I have decided to upgrade the stock cans on my M696 and would like to get some info on where to find the best price for Termis Carbon.

*Dealership where i purchased my 696 from quoted $1100 on the price of the cans, + labor fee.

Also, would you guys recommend that i have this installed at a reputable shop? or i could tackle this project in my garage on the weekend?

Thanks in advance!

i am going to assume this is a set of slip ons your are referring to, based on the pricing your dealer quoted.

slip ons are a simple/easy install on your monster.  the ecu that comes with the system is also an easy install.  i believe this system also includes a new "holed" airbox lid, and again, simple install.  the only part of the install you will need to part out to the dealer is to reset the TPS.  even this is a simple process, if you have access to a VDST, and i bet someone here on the forum has one.

figure about 2 hours total time spent on the install, if you work slowly and take your time.  fairly simple tools required ... standard metric: socket set, allen wrenches and a torque wrench.  helps if you have the workshop manual, to get the proper torques from if the installation instructions do not mention them.  again, someone here should be able to advise torque specs.

save the installation cost ... do it yourself and become one with your bike   [thumbsup]

+1 because you wont find Termis at Walmart. The dealers will quote you near identical prices..

no termis @ walmart? i'm devastated.  :P

Thanks for y'allz input.  [thumbsup]

i agree with doing the mods myself. hence i did the fender eliminator on my 696. just tyring to make sure that i dont end up biting more than what i can chew on the termi slip-ons.

time to roll up the sleeves in the next coming weekend i guess.   [drink]

I purchased my Termi kit for my 695 from Ducati Omaha (online), installed the cans/airbox myself (witih a friend) and had Nichols do the ECU for me.

2 bits of advice that helped my do my own full termi kit on my multi:

1, use a torque wrench, loctite and a shop manual (mostly for torque settings)
2, be patient, do 1 or 2 dry fits before bolting everything down tight. Walk away for a while and  [drink] if you get frustrated.

Create an account with www.commoto.com (http://) (DMF sponsor) and you get a discount on the pipes. They had a great sale over Christmas and took off an additional 10% along with free shipping! [thumbsup]
