How do you do it?
Take it to a dealer or buy a vdsts
I should elaborate. I always thought the 5.9M needed the VTDS or Mathesis. Went to a dealer yesterday and they told me it's done manual via screws under the TPS.
S4s were the first Monsters to use the 5.9 computer. Early 5.9s had manually set TPS.
easy with a digital multimeter its been posted many times by me.set to 150mv with idle backed out .

Any idea what the cut-off year/model was?
And this is a real I'm-an-idiot question, but where is the TPS on the bike?

Is this the case? Well it changes the game on everything. I was planning on ordering the VTDS to sort out my stalling/backfiring issues. Next was a Power Commander and dyno.

No idea when they switched. Your TPS is on the throttle body on the, doh, forgot which side, throttle body for the rear cylinder. It is a plastic piece right on the throttle shaft. If it has screws you set it manually, rivets, with a scan tool.

The VDST is still a worthwhile investment. You will be able to read codes, look at real time running parameters and set fuel trim. Setting TPS will be easier too. Before PC and dyno you should know everything is to spec.
On the S4:
TPS is on the left side of the horizontal cylinder throttle body.
I started typing a how-to, then remembered....
Brad Black already did it....

On 2-valvers, the TPS is on the left side of the throttle body assembly.
