Post by: tilt on April 04, 2009, 08:47:48 AM
i am looking at an 02 750 that has no keys at all, what is it gonna take to get some keys for it?  im not sure but i do believe that there is an imobilizer system on it so does this mean that i am going to need an all new computer system on it?  any help would be appreciated

i think that the ignition+key, ecu, and gauges all share common codes, and you cant mix and match,. its also my understanding
that if you dont have the red key or the ducati key code card then you cant make a new key.

the o.o. of my bike smashed the gauges and the 2nd owner had to get new ignition and ecu.

maybe someone with experience can confirm or deny this info for you

good luck, id stay away from a bike with no keys if you can afford to

The computer and dash were married by the red key.  You will either need to buy the whole 9 yards or go for an after market computer.  Assuming the bike is in good condition, which would be a big assumption since it won't start, IMO, the bike is worth about 3K less than retail.

so i just talked with the guy when i looked at the bike and according to him he sent the bike to www.hypertrick.net (//http://) and had the imobilizer deactivated.   im not sure what this means though, he said it still needs a new dash but that really doesnt make sense to me, it would seem that if the imobilizer is deactivated then all you would need is a new key and that should be it.

You could try talking to the Hypertrick folk.  It is now possible to disable the immobilizer, see

and

But,  keep in mind, if it ain't working when you buy it you don't know what you are getting, so pay on a worst case scenario.
