Title: New Ducati Owner, Looking for Friends, Advice
Post by: jfabs on April 05, 2009, 03:53:01 AM
Hi Guys,

I'm a new rider, and new Ducati owner. Just bought my first bike... a 2002 620 Dark... I am super stoked on it, and am having an awesome time riding it around town.

However, aside from riding it, I don't really know much about my new toy... I need to learn more about this bike before I start investing in fixing it up.

Really, I don't know very much about bikes in general and was wondering if any of you Ducati Jedi would want to get together some time for a beer and a chat.

I know the bike needs a little bit of work, and I want to start on some minor repairs and basic mods. I'm looking for some advice, tips, info on tools & mods & parts & where to buy... and really whatever else you care to share.

I had hoped to make it to the Ducati Ride tomorrow morning, but found out I have to be at work. So, I'm hoping this post will help me meet some of you before the next one!

I'm in Downtown Honolulu... Nuuanu area.

Hope to hear back from some of you soon!
Aloha,
Justin

Welcome aboard Justin!  Beers, chat, fixin', modifyin' ---- no problemo.  Oh yeah, once in a while we ride these things too.  See you around sometime. Too bad you can't make the ride.

alooooohaaa!!!!!

 [drink]

first rule about desmotropic: FNG buys the beer.

I am also happy to see another chick bike in the mix  ;)  fast bikes are for suckers!

I'm sure we'll be able to rustle up a meeting of the usuals. well, sans ben, 'til he gets back.

Hey Justin,

I'll split the beer tab with you, since technically I'm still the FNG too.  [beer] I'm not even on the island yet, but I'm looking at houses in the Ewa area as of right now. It'll take until the middle of August for Serenity to get to the Island with the rest of my household goods, i think. We'll go riding then. [moto] Catch you on the flip side bruddah.

Oh god, Trey is going local and speaking pidgeon...

And one thing to keep in mind, getting in and out of Ewa can be a total nightmare during the usual traffic times.

You won't be nearly so white after a couple months.

Many strange and wonderful things happen while the wife is away.  Who is to say for sure which tiny asian hands make me look bigger this time?

was that too much?

nah.

I'm still here! Been a bit AWOL lately... big stuff happening at both my jobs keeping me from weekend rides... and I just moved from Nuuanu to Makiki... All that added up to me not getting to have much fun riding, other than my super short commute.

But, let me know when the next get-together/ride is gonna be... I'll do my best to come meet you all!

Yep, and hopefully I will be able to get my SC on the road for this one.

Plus the smaller weekly meet-ups will most likely start back up soon too.

You ninny, of course your SC can be on the road for that one. All you have to do is put off doing the mods until after that ride. See...??   8)

PFFHT!  That's no fun.  I felt kind of funny riding it with the rear BST on when the front was still stock.  Oh well, guess I will have to bring the Daytona out to my first Ducati ride.   [roll]
