Has anyone ever used Extreme Powdercoating in Springfield, VA. I think I may give them a call tomorrow and ask about doing some little things for me.
Their website looks good, and they have a decent gallery. http://www.extremepowdercoating.com/ (http://www.extremepowdercoating.com/)
I would be interested to know about these guys. I called them when I was shopping for powder coaters. I went with someone closer to me in MD because I could easily drop the parts off and his price and turn around were good. He was not, however. I had some belt covers, a sprocket cover, and some clip ons PC'ed black. The belt covers looked great. The sprocket cover looked great but I was able to easily remove coating when I installed the part. The clip-ons were horrible - missed spots and light spots. I was hopeful because he gave a cash discount and does a lot of moto work. Needless to say I didn't pay him very much.....
I gave them a call and asked about prices and turnaround time. I asked what it would cost to have my rearsets powdercoated. He said it could be as much as $150 for the pair (including the levers, pegs and heel guards), but he needed to see the parts first (didn't have FHE with Ducs). He said turnaround time was about a week.
I'm thinking about having the rearsets, heat shields and rear sprocket cover done in black.
several people have used Asco with great result.

Went by and met Gary today at Extreme Powdercoating. Real nice guy, one man shop. He had just finished sand-blasting a Busa rear wheel, rearsets, linkage and other parts. He showed us his oven, and pulled a bicycle frame out he had just finished baking in 'black chrome' powder. I didn't realize you could get an almost chrome-like finish from powder. Seeing all the metalflakes and fancy candy colors he's done makes me think about projects too much, though....
He quoted me $125 to do the rearsets on my Duc, including heel guards, levers and linkage. He showed me the plugs he uses for holes, and how he uses screws to keep threads clear. I'm going to get my stuff to him early next week, and get them done in a satin black.

Please post up results! That is about twice what I was quoted for about the same amount of parts, but I got crappy work. [popcorn]
ok, so I dropped off the rearsets, heat shields and an exhaust bracket for powdercoating today. I'll post pics and such when I get them back.
Gary from Extreme Powdercoating called me this morning to tell me my parts were cooling, and would be ready to pick up soon. I went by this afternoon and picked them up. What a beautiful job he did.
He gave me 4 choices of black; flat, satin, semi-gloss and high gloss. I picked the satin black. He sand blasted everything to remove paint, grime, etc. Any holes that were to accept a bolt or screw, he plugged prior to coating, so I didn't have to worry about things not fitting afterward. The finish is very smooth and paint-like, with no waviness or lumps like I've seen on other powdercoated things.
One exception is my shift lever, which I've mangled quite a bit by bending it, then straightening it back out with a torch, vice grips and a hammer. It looks better than before, but I could have prepped it a little better.
I'm really happy with the results and am looking around for other thing to powder coat. He's got some amazing samples to show with things like sparkles, texture, candy metallics, and a huge choice of colors. He has also been experimenting with powder coating glass, porcelain and other non-metals. He demonstrated the durability of the coating by hammering a piece of sheet metal that had been coated. It marked the sheet metal slightly, but it didn't chip. (His hammer was powder coated also)
I know this sounds like I work for the guy but honestly, I really just like the work he did, and the turnaround time was only 2 days. While $125 for both rearsets (including linkage, levers and heel guards), might be high to some folks, I felt it was fair, and will be back there when I have more stuff to do.
I'll post some pics as soon as it stops raining.....
