Title: TX relays..at least one dead Post by: IZ on April 05, 2009, 08:58:49 PM I didn't know anything about Texas Relays until Friday came and along with that..
about 5000 motorcyles!! DAMN!! The bikeshops, local hotels, UT and 6th St. were all jammed yesterday. Unfortunately, I only saw one Dark Monster..the rest looked like Ruff Ryers or Biker Boyz. [roll] I heard that at least one rider was struck and killed last night when a drunk driver crossed midline. It was bound to happen with that many bike clusters on the road. :-\ Title: Re: TX relays..at least one dead Post by: txduc on April 06, 2009, 06:09:39 AM This seems to happen every year during the relays sad but true. You're right it seems to be mostly Biker Boyz type bikes and riders. I don't understand it but to each his own..

my monster felt quite of place among all the crotch rockets! it was pretty nice of APD to provide bike parking I was out there for the first time ever because I'd heard all the noise about it, and was convinced it was the place to be in Austin I was definitely apprehensive because I KNEW there were going to a be a bunch of drunk drivers out and about (more so than usual) I left early, because it was too crowded and and just did not feel comfortable with all the silly behavior (plus way too many Juvies) I feel bad for fallen rider I took this picture to give an idea of the amount of bikes out there (sorry for IZ_ cameraphone quality) Bikes as far as the eye can see! Quote Home > The Blotter Police identify man who died in motorcycle crash By Andrea Lorenz | Monday, April 6, 2009, 10:30 AM Police have identified a motorcycle rider who was killed in a crash that involved six motorcycles, a Mercedes and a Chevrolet pickup at 1:47 early Sunday morning on East Martin Luther King Boulevard just west of Springdale Road. Police say they have arrested the driver who, according to police, caused the accident in which Maurice Britt, of San Antonio, died and two others were taken to the hospital in critical condition. Mario Hernandez-Rodriguez, 21, was arrested Sunday, and police say they will charge him with intoxication manslaughter and failure to stop and render aid. Hernandez-Rodriguez remains in the Travis County Jail. Corporal Scott Perry of the Austin Police Department said the motorcycles and Mercedes were traveling east on MLK Boulevard when Hernandez-Rodriguez, headed westbound, veered into oncoming traffic and hit the Mercedes, then continued in the eastbound lanes and hit two of the motorcycles, Perry said. Hernandez-Rodriguez then fled on foot and was found by Austin police officers and an Austin Police K-9. Britt, 36, was pronounced dead on the scene, Perry said. A 30-year-old female, who was a passenger on the motorcycle, and a 42-year-old male, the driver of a second motorcycle, were taken to University Medical Center-Brackenridge, Perry said, where their condition was listed as critical Sunday. The driver of the Mercedes was not transported to the hospital, Perry said. Police did not have an update on their conditions Monday.
