I've searched the forums far and wide... and I have come across some great information.
However, it seems like things were on the brink of getting cheaper and all and now I can't find much info.
My 2003 Ducati 749s is for sale and without a red key, I feel that I should have the immobilizer disabled before I sell it. The best option I have found takes 2-3 weeks and costs $250. You're only required to send your ecu in and they will disable the need for the immobilizer.
Please let me know if you guys know of better, faster, or cheaper deals? By the way, I'll soon have a beautiful bright red 749s with 5,700 miles on it for sale at around $7,500. It's been babied and spent one winter in my living room. :)_ druel.
Until then...
Thanks!!
that's about as cheap as it's gonna get.
once the red key is lost, you have to start from scratch. so you'd need a new ignition, lockset, guage/instrumentation set, ECU, and of course all the keys....
You can do the math ;)

good lord not to beat a dead horse but doesnt he need the code card as well as the red key? I thought having the red key was useless unless you had that card thing too.
Well, his point is, if he disables the immobilizer, the whole redkey thing is pointless, and so would the card.
id just sell the bike at a $500 discount and point the new owner toward monstermash. OR you can disable it, and throw on the DP ECU and sell it as a bike with a DPECU.
however, you still loose a significant portion of the cost without that red key, just doenst look good.
^YUP.

A system to prevent the bike from being started by an unauthorized person (thief), but more likely prevent the rightful owner (you) from starting the bike.
Read all about the immobilizer, red key and code card here:
