All -
I've had my S2R1000 for almost a year now, and I'm wanting to switch out the exhaust. I've read tons of posts on the various brands, volumes, impacts to hp, price, o2 manipulators, pcIII's, stock ECU's, and about 100 other variables in the equation.
My question is: is there a definitive post on exhausts for Monsters? One that lays out pros and cons for each type? Possibly a matrix of Brand, hp, dB, fitment, price, etc? In a consumer report-ish fashion? Or any fashion, for that matter?
I realize that there are infinite combinations of bike and exhaust, but a baseline for each model wouldn't be that hard, right? Or, am I being naive, and there are far too many variables to develop any sort of real comparison?
If something like this does exist, could somebody could point me to it?
If not, perhaps we could compile one? I say we, because I don't know anything, and my hands-on knowledge is limited to stock cans and open udder. I'd be happy to consolidate the information, if it's out there to be had. Or, better yet, we could stand up a google doc spreadsheet and have all the contributors edit it. Just thinking out loud.
My thoughts are to get the following metrics for the following brands:
Cost:
Style: (eg: undercarriage, split rear, dual rear, low, high, etc)
Change in hP w/ Stock ECU:
Full system or slip on:
dB @ idle:
dB @ 5k:
Fitment: (eg: necessary mods)
Spec'd on: (eg: type of bike that stats come from)
Accessories needed: (eg PCIII, or FatDuc)
Sound: (Okay, this is kind of objective, but it could just be categorized - deep, tinny, sharp, dull)
Brands:
Quat-D ExBox
Zards
Arrow
Leo Vince
Boomtubes
Termignoni
I'm open to suggestions...
Thanks,
Kevin
I have an S2R 1K and I was thinking along the same lines, but after reading too many posts, realize that every one looks at things differently. Whats loud to one is quite to another. I think you have to start with what you want your bike to look like. That will narrow down the options. Personally I am looking for round, high mount, side by side. And really only have 1 option. (Sil-moto).
Half of the items you noted depend on the tune of the motor and the other mods in place. Too many combinations to be able to get accurate values..
