It's not a question of getting it back, it's a question of creating one.   Nothing here is a transfer from the DML.     It can be on the list.

Wasn't that something Ducati put out?

IIRC, Goldfish did the artwork and maybe the flash.

MMoore would know about it, I think.

Time for an update anyways, IIRC it didn't have the s*r models and certainly not the 696 bodystyle.  :)

+1, GoldFish offered it to us (well, me) a while back - if anyone thinks it'd be nice to have we have permission from both the creators to put it up here.

I'd kinda like GoldFish or Herm to post up offering it publicly though, just to reduce any possible "friction" with TOB...

Want be to PM GoldFish?

Hey all,

As big said, I would be more than happy to have the configurators here on the DMF if you guys want them.

The original DSS images came from MM, Herm did the graphics work on the S*R models, and we (me and the wife) did the flash.

You may need to speak to Michael about where the original files came from, in order to credit all originators...

On TOB, one of the configurators had the images on a black background... can that get changed this time around?

Any word on this?  I'm no good with the flash coding but my brother does it for a living and has offered to help (for a few beers from me).

I'm considering a couple of visual mods and boy do I miss the configurator!

Post by: goldFiSh on September 07, 2008, 05:21:30 AM
To reiterate, both Herm and I being the two originators of the configurators are happy for this to happen.

There were two versions DSS and SSS:

My wife and I authored the flash
Herm did the SSS graphics
The DSS graphics came from <source unknown> and dug up by Michael Moore for me way back when

I have the whole shooting match - source images, source flash code and compiled flash code.
All it needs is a home on the DMF. If one of the Flounders contacts me to work out the details, we can make this happen...

Holy smoke.....I never even knew it existed on TOB.

and it would be perfect for my next set of mods...sounds brilliant!

Thanks Nick, Herm, Big, Michael, the flounders and 'wife of Goldfish'  [thumbsup]

Sounds like this was ready to go a few months ago.  What happened?  ???

no one's taken it further.

I'm assuming there's more pressing things to take care of..

I've just looked at it again last night.

I need to:

1. change it to say ducatimonsterforum.org rather than ducatimonsterworldwide.org (already got rid of DML references a while ago)
2. email the two of them to someone with DMF server access to host it, which I assume to be the founders and the web geeks.

Then someone needs to link it in, perhaps modify a little html are we're done.

So, not all that much at all  [thumbsup]

ha,ha.........just in time for the 696 crowd to ask for a configurator of their own.

Let Daryl or myself know when everything is set on your end.

Thanks.

Then find out.   ;D

We can't provide navigation for it until we get the software squared away, but it could be posted and stickied.

Curiously, I just go a phonecall from Nick (GoldFish)... He says Daryl already has all the required files for it, but he's gonna mail me a link to it as well when he gets back into the office (he did some work on it a while back to update the ducatimoinsterworldwide urls...)

Sorry fellas, don't get over here much....

Yeah Darryl has the files, they are hosted on the net somewhere, I'll post the link to big and nate so you boys can do something with it!! I'm not keen to make the link public as it's on very limited bandwidth....

Oh and thanks to Herm for the graphics work!

Go to the forum main page...or general...or check the news in the forum header.

I can't add sidebar navigation because of our software problems, but this should work for now.

Thanks Nick.

Can I make a suggestion?  I'd move the configurator to Accessories & Mods (which has only one sticku) or FAQs or Tutorials and either make it a child board or a sticky.  The main forum page doesn't need another category.
Title: Re: Bike Configurator
Post by: Spidey on April 16, 2009, 11:56:17 AM
If, for technical reasons, you need the Configurator to be its own category, then just hide the entire category from everyone.  You can link to it from another forum (as described above).
Title: Re: Bike Configurator
Post by: ducpainter on April 16, 2009, 03:36:26 PM
Either of those would work.

Just the way I did it to get them up and visible to as many people as possible as quickly as possible.

I don't like stickies...

no one sees them.

When I can access the navigation cp I may move them to ACC & Mods.

I owe goldfish a huge apology.

I didn't read his post about not wanting to make the links public.

I've taken the configurators down until daryl has some time to add them here correctly

Don't sweat it Nate [thumbsup]

Temporary location until the flounders and webgeeks can get it sorted out to host them on the DMF server...

Cool feature, I managed a couple of color combos so truely horrendous I'm actually contemplating them just to piss off the purist.  ;D
