I am thinking about going back to Texas for a few months and I want to take my two bikes, does anyone have any information on what it might cost to have my bikes shipped from California to Texas, and who I should get in contact with for this service?
Thanks for responding.

uship.com
I almost went with a bid from the uship site before several strokes of good luck and good friends helped me get my bike from NC to OR.
california to texas? i think you're going to have to pay extra for international shipping ;D
i had a bike shipped from denver CO to central PA about 5 years ago and it cost me $500, YMMV
Ok, I am from Europe and I don't know how big the mighty US is.
But LA -Austin seems to be 1000 miles of warm weather fun.
I would take the chance for a road trip. [moto]
And if you dont have time, invest the 500 bucks in a plane ticket for me and I will do the service for you
no kidding

More like 1600 or 1700 miles, depending on where in Texas. Desert, hills, desert, high desert plateau, then mountains, and lots more desert. I know some out there are crazy enough to do it, but I wouldn't ride that on a Monster. Probably on a Beemer though :)
Not sure what the monster would cost but one of the guys we ride w/ had a MV shipped (from Cali I think) and he said it was ~500. My new bike shipped to Austin from MD was 550 so you're probably looking at around 500.

plenty of people have done it.
i rode mine about 1300 miles a few summers ago.
i think time and the fact that he wants to take 2 bikes are the limiting factors with regards to rising out.
that said, i'll ride the second bike ;D
Where in Texas are you moving?

what about BP's Discount Motor Scooter Transportation Service?
;D
I just moved out of Texas, and packed my bike on a Penske moving truck. the roads up to Boston has more turns that I10. I suggest you rent a moving truck, pack your stuff, and the bikes,
3 for 1 trip, and no air fair, and you can stop along the Grand Canyon, and Rt 66. don't forget Santa Fe... what a treat! ;D just watch out for Armadillos and your gas tank... don't wait till the light comes on.
I used Allied to ship a bike I sold from Seattle to Sacramento. They did a nice job and their rates were reasonable in comparison to everyone elses. They picked the bike up at my house. I think it ran about $600.

put it up on uship.com for a couple weeks. It takes a little time but you can get a really good deal.
Thanks for the input , I am going southeast of Houston to the Clear Lake area, it's about 1600 miles. I got a couple of bids on uship.com for about $700 for both bikes, so far thats the best I have found.
I just shipped my '97 M900 from Long Island (NY) to Albuquerque. 8 days from pickup at the shop where it was serviced to my door in ABQ. The shop, Supermoto Italia, St. James, NY, uses an outfit called Key Express. This is the 3rd bike I've shipped with them (the first 2 to Florida). Cost about $550. They specialize in shipping bikes. When my bike was delivered the other day, there were 5 others in the trailer. They have specialized rigs to carry the bikes in the trailer. I've been very satisfied with their service.

Cool, thanks.
I'm riding from Dallas to Las Vegas and back in a few weeks, riding straight there and straight back in the span of a week and a half, with some good side trips. Total mileage roundtrip will be 2800mi. I suggest grow a pair and do the ride. Could be some of the best memories ever.

Monstermamania,
Check out Shippingmasters for other options and some very good general information about shipping, particularly bonding and insuring. See: <http://www.shippingmasters.com/>

It's got nothing to do with "growing a pair". I have two bikes to get there and a truck pulling a trailer of tools, so I'm driving the truck pulling the tools and i need to ship the bikes.
i know i know i know, i was teasin'
i just had an idea.
this could potentially be one of the coolest/strangest/least useful side hacks ever.
get bike#2 attached to bike#1.
50% fewer gas stops!
plus you can load up the bike you're not riding with your tools! [thumbsup]
i didn't say it was a good idea
Its like an even sweeter sidecar!
