Title: Monster Keys
Post by: WarrenJ on April 17, 2009, 06:14:36 AM
Hello All

I am about to consumate a deal for my first Monster - a 2000 750.  I have noticed looking at ads for other used bikes, a mention of "Red" keys and the like.  Were there special keys for the 2000 750's that I should be receiving with this deal?

Thanks

WarrenJ

No worries...

The 2K M750 had no immobilizer or red keys.

Thanks for the information!  This site and the people in it are tremendous.

I appreciate your input.

Go to a locksmith to get your spare keys, rather than hardware store and you'll be happier with the result.  I've always gotten a Kawasaki key for my Ducati spares.  Silca KW15BP

And make sure you let the exhaust pipes cool down a bit before you consumate the deal... [roll]

Someone had to do it.   ;D

DON't DO IT!!!!   I didn't even have to be in the same state to buy my bike, much less the make the beast with two backs the dealer.

I think Dainese makes some kind of protection for that too!

For my '97 M900 there are two places that you may possibly purchase replacement keys:

1) Kawasaki dealer.  Key = Silca KW14 ($5 in Plano)
2) Locksmith.  Key = KA11 ($3.50)...that is what the locksmith told me.  Specific to Dallas, you can go to be Bee's Key's (7711 Inwood & South of Lovers Lane) and they have a second store next to AMS on Industrial.

There may be multiple keys that work.

The one I have used on all of my Ducatis (1993, 1996, 1997, 1998) was the Slica KW15BP.

Appears that there are multiple keys that will work.   ;D
