Hello,
can you use the 6MM vertical check and 5MM horizontal check on the 695 & 696 belts?
thanks :)
I'm thinking yes, but I thought you should use 5mm for both
Note the new acoustic belt tension specs for the 695 I posted here http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=18964.0 (http://ducatimonsterforum.org/index.php?topic=18964.0) (highlighted in red).
I'm not sure about the 696.
It seems to me that the thread DirtMonster started should become a sticky? It would save it from being buried 500 pages deep and forgotten.

+1!
thanks, Everyone for the great responses.
what a killer write up, Dirt Monster.
I have just ONE more question:
what is the torque number for the 2 bolts which hold the tension adjuster? i haven't tensioned my belts since last year and i can't remember the number.
(the haynes manual gives every torque BUT that one!)
I think these are the ones... from the 695 service manual:
Fixed tensioner
M 8x1 Nm: 20 Min: 18 Max: 22 Notes: LOCK 2 or THREE BOND 1324
Mobile tensioner
M 8x1.25 Nm: 26 Min: 23 Max: 29
I just made them "tight... very tight", but not "crazy tight". ;D I also don't think I used thread locker on the fixed one... ??? Kinda tough to thread-lock, since you're tightening / loosening them multiple times while adjusting / checking / re-adjusting.
thanks Dirt!
i knew the number was somewhere around there...
ps- the locktite is a good idea- last time i DIDN'T use it, one of
them came loose and loosened my horizontal belt :o
