Just had a very close near call with death, as I see it.
I made a quick trip back to the office to pick up some files I needed to complete something.
Alex, our Chihuahua, loves to take car rides, so I took him along.
On the way home, I have a red light at a large intersection.
Cross traffic is on a large road and I am on a "smaller" one.
Traffic rotation takes the smaller sides and then larger.
I get the green light to go straight (after the opposite side, same less busy road has their green lights) so I start accelerating through the intersection.
BAM!
make the beast with two backsing car runs the red light (it had been red on that side for at least 20 seconds).
Misses the front end of my Lexus by no less than a foot.
Alex goes flying into the dashboard. The little trooper gets up and hops straight on my lap and starts shaking.
The other car that about got whacked throws a huge U-Turn and goes after the red light runner. I hope he called the police and tracked that make the beast with two backser down.
==venting over, calming down.........
BAM! ?? ??
Nobody got hit though, right?
Yes, probably on the cell phone or texting to boot!!
>:(
That would have sucked if anything happened..
to the Lexus.
;)
Glad you both narrowly escaped! Nerve wracking. I find myself getting anxious over other drivers when I have Brian (the boxer) in the car. Even though he's family and our "kid" and strapped in, I can't imagine driving with a two legged kid with all the nutty drivers!
You have to wonder what goes through their heads after they hit the dash or the floor. Likely "WTF dad" ?!?!? ;)
Wow dude! You got lucky. I hate people that pull that shit!
I was worried more about Alex than me.
Sure, I would have been make the beast with two backsed up, but that little guy was not strapped in.
I drive through that intersection 4 times a day.
I know all the workings of the light.
The red light the person ran wasn't even consistent with the light operation.
That is what spooks me most.
make the beast with two backs, need to re-think my entrance through that intersction now.
Glad you both made it safely. [thumbsup]
Can I suggest that you consider using a dog crate in the car, or a harness/seatbelt system?

Thanks for the suggestion, but we let our dogs free roam in the car.
Restraining them in a crate or harness just isn't feasbile
I don't mean to be a dick and I am glad you are alive and well

but

Wait, so the guy was sitting at the light and then just took off an ran the red from a stop?
Hey Cy, that really was a 9 lives moment.
I can't begin to imagine how or why the offender did what they did , but I'm glad you and your little friend are safe.
I thank my lucky stars everyday that I live in the country sort of . I can be in a city in 10 minutes or in the " hills " in 10 minutes.
Anytime I have to go to Columbus downtown, I think it may very well be 70/30 I make it out alive. There is a lot of good in large cities , but most of the bad is also in large cities.
Drive safe and watch out for the people that aren't concerned about your safety. Dolph
glad everyone is ok.
Glad you and the pup are ok, Cyrus.
close call.... glad you didn't get hit.
i'm hoping alex is really ok.... i mean you can't ask him right?....

I wasn't going all that fast when I had to suddenly stop, maybe 15 mph.
He just sort of flew off the seat, hit the glove box and then jumped back on the seat and gave me that "what the make the beast with two backs?" look.
He was a bit scared, but shows no signs of injury or distress.
He is comfortably sleeping in bed still! :)
Glad to hear that you and the little guy are okay. [thumbsup]
What intersection was it? Typically the Dublin PoPo's are all over that area.
