Remember to scan 360 degrees!. Almost got hit 3 times today! WTF?!?! 2 of the 3 times I had to use a healthy amount of brakes to stay safe.
First was when I pulled out of the carpool lane. I saw a car behind me in the #2 lane change to the #3 to pass the car next to me. Then as he's going for the pass a car int he #3 lane ahead of him moves to the #2 and blocks him so he jumps into my lane right where I would have been if I hadn't seen it coming and slowed down.
Second was a pair of cars that both made a 3 lane change to make the freeway junction. Luckily I saw them coming and gave myself an opening to change lanes when, as I expected, one of them started coming over into my lane right next to me!
Third was a distracted minivan that changed from the #3 to the #2 with his blinker and then after sitting in the #2 for about 2 seconds swerved into the #1 right in front me. Woulda clipped my front wheel if I hadn't seen him coming.
Beside that I saw 4 cars make 2+ lane changes/swerves to make off ramps while riding today but none of them were near me.
Ah, i take it this happens in Santa Anna?
Glad you've avoided those loonies
And if you think SoCal drivers are unpredictable, try deer...there's plenty on our roads right now. :o
Glad you made it safely. [thumbsup]
Good reminder. You know, you absolutly MUST watch out for everyone and assume that they won't/don't see you. It's the only way to be safe. [thumbsup]

Make sure you pay attention to what's around you and, more importantly, put yourself in places where others are likely to see you, too.

In NY or Boston or many of the cities in the north east, using a turn signal will telegrapgh your move and someone will cut you off. The only time my turn signals were used in NY were during the state inspection. The good news is that New Yorkers save lots of money on turn signal bulbs.

That's sad folks are that possessive over a piece of asphalt.
"if they don't see you that's one thing" riding after work yesterday, I was splitting lanes, and all were cool, except this one lady who sees me, and literally willing to run into me, so that i won't cut her off, so mad, had to keep my composer. ironically I pass her on the free way. what a beotch. a lot of these people probably do the split lanes if they had the chance...
this was in Boston. I don't ride to work much, to avoid this frustrations, Weekend rides are the best.
Boston is full of Massholes! not to mention the man size potholes..
or stay off the 57 and 605. [cheeky]
