wtF is wrong with people

Blah, had a sandal squid buzz me on the left in the carpool lane on the 55N  just before the 57 junction. Right as I checked my left mirror to move to the left side of the road for the ramp I see this yellow blob zip pass and proceed to weave through the cars in front of me.

For anyone that doesn't know, the carpool lane in this section is protected; there is a concrete wall on both sides so it's like a water wash and you can't get out but it's got shoulders the size of a lane on each side. This guy had no gear beside the helmet, T-shirt, torn jeans, and sandals and was passing cars on the shoulder... the right shoulder.  [roll]

I can't count the number of times I've had squids pass me on the RIGHT, in a CORNER, then turn back to get me to race them...  I dont.

erkishhorde - I think I saw that dude this past weekend on PCH, he was riding a Yamaha I think. 

Wow, this is a one a day thing.
My favorite was seeing a guy on a GSX-R with complete leathers and his girl on the back in short shorts, tank top and heels.

Wow that was a good catch by the photographer. In the first two shots of that sequence you can see the rear tire is off the ground. :o

Wow, he's capturing those crashes pretty well. I wonder if those 2 guys in the last one were riding together or if the first guy just totally ruined a stranger's day.

Those pics are awesome. It would have been your typical lowside, then bam, rider number two comes in.

But I don't see what is so squidish about these guys, other than the first guy is wearing jeans and tennis shoes.

Squidly or not... reminds me of an old Warren Miller (ski films, you know) saying... [to paraphrase]"When you put a camera in front of a skier, his IQ drops to the temperature of the snow!"  ;)

Yeah, I'm with OC. The guy just ain't that good of a rider or got distracted by the camera. Nothing too squidly about that. If you look at some of the following pics there are some full leather guys leaning over the double yellow. I'd consider that more squidly.

Both tires almost FLAT, I couldnt believe he didnt notice

Did you notice the guy who got run over......... look at the pics & see how much his helmet lifts up..... more proof to buy a helmet that is a tight as you can stand....... the idea is to have it NOT move [thumbsup]

I was pulling for the guy on the KAwi to keep it upright & ride away..... no such luck.

...and one with a face shield that won't open and fly off completely! :o

Squid of the day (yesterday)

Where: Mall parking lot

What: Harley rat with 6' sissy bar and ape hangers, open headers

Who: Teen with sagging emo jeans, chucks, fingerless knitted gloves, t-shirt (fishnet?), knit cap, sunglasses, obligatory red bandana hanging out of his back pocket

How: Standing up on the seat like a skateboard (brachiator bars were the perfect height for this)

Yeah.... just bustin' the Captain's balls...... you look fine & about the only thing I'd add is hang off a little more so you don't have to lean the bike over so much..... if you catch the shifter it cold get ugly fast on the street [thumbsup]

I just started trying to get my butt off the seat in the last few months...  so I'm not comfortable making quick transitions side to side yet.  :-\   If you know the corner where Paul hangs out in the am, it's  a right-hander approach and then the sharp left where the photo was taken.  I just can't seem to get far enough off the seat in such a short time between right and left...  [bang]   

On the squidly note,  118 Freeway, westbound in Simi Valley,  GSX-R1000 riding two up.  Him: T-shirt, back protector, Long shorts, socks pulled up to knees and sneaks.
Her: hoodie and jeans.  Hoodie was like halfway up her back and jeans were so small, all you could see was ass-crack.  :o  And not the good kind if you know what I mean...

This wasn't in SoCal, but...

Bike: some sort of Kawazukonda (don't know my Japanese bikes) sportbike.

Safety gear: sunglasses, T-shirt, floppy shorts, ratty flip-flops, watch (that left wrist is safe, at least).

Accessories: large golden retriever sitting on tank.

Style: talking on cell phone (held in left hand) while occasionally petting the dog with right hand (wtf?)
