for aussies, and kiwi's. paul. Title: Re: For Australians. Post by: CairnsDuc on April 26, 2009, 12:09:18 AM Brother in law is in the Army, done a few Tours, he has told me of some of the Horror stories of what he has seen and witnessed.
And then I think of how much worse things were in WW1 and WW2, Guys fighting in Trenches with Dead bodies around them for days and weeks on end, no or poor quality food, Dysentery, Guys being so sick/weak they fall into and drown in the sewerage pits. I'm proud to say I shed a tear for these guys and girls in the Armed forces on Anzac day (Past and present), proud of there current service and for the Sacrifices they have made. [thumbsup] Title: Re: For Australians. Post by: dragonworld. on April 26, 2009, 12:28:23 AM Yep, the personal tales from my uncle (WW2 Army) who fought in New Guinea and ended up in Changi.
My Grandad (WW2 Navy) Minesweepers. Shrapnel from a mine in the lungs nearly got him. And mates of my own age group (Vietnam) both Nasho's and Regular (AIF and SAS) who ended up really screwed by everybody! The Government, the public and even initially the RSL who wouldnt admit them because they reckoned it "wasnt a war". Cheeeezuss Yep, I shed a tear and thank the stars that I missed out on the ballot by 1 day. And feel guilty because I didnt share the crap that my mates did. And will always give the respect, and have the utmost admiration for our Veterans and serving Armed Forces men and women. Lest We Forget. Title: Re: For Australians.
