Hey,
I chopped my year old 696 in for an 1100S today.
Just 90 miles in, initial impressions are that this is a much more grown up bike - *love* the dry clutch, though it requires more finesse than I'm used to.
The 696 is great, and maybe even a better choice for the UK roads, but the 1100S provides a bigger hit of Ducati goodness, even at breaking-in speeds.
Here's the chop in action...

+1 Dry clutch
and already some mods!!! looks nice!
What did they give you for the trade on the 696?
I sat on the 1100 and the 1100s today. It looks and feels much taller than the 696. Are you seeing/feeling this? I know the tires are bigger 180 rear vs. 160 rear. It also looks like (at least the S) has the start assist - no lever, just automatic.
I'm curious as to what you got in trade too. How many miles did you have on the 696? How do you feel since you did the swap now that you've had a few weeks?

The 1100 is 40mm higher than the 696.

That sounds about right. It just looks like a foot when you set the 2 bikes next to each other. :)
