I own an s2r 800.... needed a chain so i called and ordered a chain. they said i need a 520 - 102 link. ok easy enough. I get the chain and try to install. its a no go. Its too short i told them.... they came back with, "the old chain is stretched and i need to just tighten it up." ok. allll the way tight and its a no go. so i count the links of the chain they ordered, 102. I call and ask wft because I have a 104 on the bike. I told the parts dude i had a dark because thats just what im used to and apparently he ordered the chain off a non dark bike. who the effff knew the dark had 2 more links??!!
am i just dumb or something?
oh and i got quoted 325 plus parts for just a valve adj. too much?
Did someone change the gearing previously?
Work on your own bike...then you can only complain about your own work.
Oh and you wont get quoted 325 bucks for a valve adjust..
BTW..thats a pretty good deal. I'm assuming that you have at least 10k on your bike if you're replacing a chain.
Buy a 120 and cut it. Most of the DID chains on Ebay are 120 link length.
She showed me in the book. the dark has 2 more links than the non dark bikes. everyone there didnt have a clue.
I watched the ducati tech video and i think ill tackle the valves myself. I do this crap all the time at work but i hate working on my own stuff...
I went through the dealer for the chain because i happen to be in there... next time the internet will be my friend.
What year is your bike? I have an 05 s2r 800 that isn't a dark model and my owners maual says 104 links...

I'll second that, got good service & information from them when replacing my chain & putting on a different sized rear sprocket ~
