hey guys - just bought a new M1100 last week for my first bike - so I dont know much about tech stuff. Within the first 100km, I noticed the oil warning lamp came on a few times intermittently, but oil levels were fine. After about 120km I went to start it and it took around 10 attempts before it finally kicked over and ran rough until warmed up. Next ride, the oil light came on again and then cut out while riding, leaving me on the side of the road. Under new warranty, the dealer picked it up, but after running diagnosis, they have told me that nothing came up and that they cant replicate any problems and so nothing they can do. They also told me that they are very new with the M1100, so weren't that familiar with the new computer. Anyone know of similar problems on new M1100's?
Welcome to the board and congrats on the new bike. Unfortunately, we are at a bigger disadvantage than your dealer since we have neither the bike or the diagnostic equipment. If the oil light comes on simultaneously with the stalling issue, that part is normal. The oil light coming on at other times could be a bad connection at the oil pressure switch. If your stalling and rough problem is happening during warm up, it could be not using the fast idle lever properly. Just in case, go over that section in the owner's manual. Other than that, not much you should be doing at this point. Do keep a log on what is happening, and, if needed, contact Ducati directly.
There is no fast idle switch on the M1100. My engine light came on a few times and the dealer cleared out all the faults in the computer and hasn't had a problem since. Oil light might be a little more serious though.
Try resetting the ECU by turning the key on and off three times.
My S4 does some weird stuff like that every once in a while. If I turn the key on and off, it seems to reset something and it goes away. Probably operator error, like my boss says.

OK, M696 has a fast idle lever, M1100 does not. Since the bike is not stalling maybe that problem is solved. Assuming the dealer checked your oil pressure and all is good, as I said earlier, check the connection at the sender. While there, pack the connection with dielectric grease. Also make sure the complaint is in writing.
I'm not sure if the 1100 shares the same sender as earlier bikes, but those were susceptible to moisture. Did this happen after you washed the bike?
