Title: Bar risers on 07 S4R Post by: Kurt on May 17, 2008, 05:25:34 AM I just installed 1.25" bar risers (not genmar, but another brand the dealer had that go between the fork crown and the standard bar mount). Has anyone heard of bolt failure with risers installed? Or flexing of the whole assembly? I ask since the bolts are like 4" long and just thread into the top clamp, they are not through bolts with lock nuts on the other side. Should I be nervous, or ride with confidence? ???
Thanks for your thoughts and experience, Kurt Title: Re: Bar risers on 07 S4R Post by: DarkStaR on May 17, 2008, 06:46:01 AM As long as all the hardware is correct for the application, and was installed properly, I wouldn't worry about it.
The only instance I can imaging that being an issue is during a tipover/crash. At that point, you probably have other things to worry about. Otherwise nothing to worry about (I hope, since I got a similar roduct from SpeedyMoto). The SpeedyMoto product looks vastly superior to what I have, I make have to re-sell mine and get these https://secure.speedymoto.com/Merchant2/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Product_Code=03-0220BLK&Category_Code=MTC Thanks! The price is quite high, but I like to be comfortable with quality and I love the sharp look. I haven't figured out this camera/posting thing yet, so I'm sorry, no pictures. My impression is that they look much better on the bike than what the web pictures shows. Only downside is the milled "hole" on the top clamp, but my dealer put a discrete black vinyl sticker there to cover it.
Title: Re: Bar risers on 07 S4R Post by: the ron on May 20, 2008, 11:27:22 AM i purchased a set of risers off of ebay, and they are fine. i just remembered to put some blue lock tight on them and checked them after a 100 or so miles. mine don't look as nice as the speedy motos, but they only cost me 25 dollars. they are billet aluminum and pretty much match the stock color. the speedymoto's on the other hand look cool but are way expensive. if you are happy with the ones you have now, keep them. there is plenty of other places on the s4r in which to spend money ;D
