G'day all I'm new to Oz Monsters and this is my 1st real post, so here goes..

Has anyone on OZ Monster purchased an M1100?

I'm planning to buy something with a bit more stick than my M620, that I've had for a fair while, later in the year (if finances allow)
and am considering the new monster.

I wasn't so sure about the look of the new generation Monsters at first, but after seeing them in the flesh it's really grown on me.
I've test ridden the 696 in Newcastle and while it's a nice bike it didn't feel like it had much over my 620 power wise (to me anyway).

I rode the M1100S in Melb on a ride day a few weeks ago. I liked it from as much as I could tell from a ride through the Melb city while being totally unfamiliar with the roads. Yep on a cool Melb day I definitely noticed the amount of heat it pumps out at low speed!

Love the low down grunt that it has over my bike and being able to roll on the throttle an pull a wheelie on demand  ;D It court me a bit by surprise how easily it will pop the front in the air.

If I decide on an M1100 it might have to wait till I can find a 2nd hand one cos like a lot before me have said it's nice but for ~$24k... I'm not totally convinced (yet)

Anyway as I've seen quite a few 696's getting about the place (relatively speaking) but am yet to see an M1100 on the streets, I'd love to here if anyone has bought the 1100 and/or there thoughts?

Speaking with a friend who works in a Melbourne dealership, it will probably take three months or so for the "demo" bikes to become 2nd hand.  ;)

Struba, welcome to "DMF" have you thought about a 2nd hand S4R or S2R1k ?
You can get some good deals around the place on very low kms bikes.
Maybe in your price range?

I test rode a new (89 Kilometers!) M1100 at the Ducati Monsters Beach Party day. It was a decent test ride for 30Mins. We did both city roads and some sweeps throught the national park.
It felt chuggy down low, but crisper up top. Not sure why, but I didnt feel faster than my 900 powered machine and it didnt feel any smoother. Just easier to ride a super quick on the steering, I have clipons so the riding position was completely different. The brakes were as expected, top notch.

Overall, nice bike, but I wasn't sold on it. - Chris

Struba if you've read some of the other threads you may have seen that I have just moved off the
620 and onto something bigger. That being an S4Rs.
I was in the same position thinking the M1100s is nice, I have been a fan of the new shape.
But $24k for a 2V is pretty rich, especially when the 4V Monsters were sold for $20-$24k new not so long back.
Yes it's a new model and there is the R&D they need to recoup but still that is alot of $$$ in my book for a 95hp bike.

For less than $20k you can get yourself a pretty nice machine with not too many k's some bling already
and more importantly lots left in the account to add your own mod's.
Cause the $24k asking price of the M1100s doesn't include pipes/ecu or anything else. Sure it has Carbon front guard
Carbon belt covers and heat shields but once you add some of yourself to it your looking at $30k............

Definitely keep an s2r or s4r in mind. Wont be in a position to buy anything for a few months so just keeping my eye out for now. G I've seen an ex demo M1100S for $1500 less than a brand newie in QLD, but still I agree it's a lot when you consider you could pick up a low km 848 for that sort of money (and with pipes).

That's not including the ECU and full system the new bike has on it.

oh....so your talking YOUR bike....but your comment sounded like you'd want to do $6k of add on onto a 1100s!

what's $750 paint for? Don't tell me Vince kept the bloody paint....he's a scoundrel!  ;D

I was talking M1100s but you could apply that to any bike really.
That is if you've hung around Melvin and want to try to keep up.

The paint is for a little work I'm having done.

It won't cost that much to silver-up your belt covers will it?  :D ;D [laugh]

Get an S4R instead I say, they're MUCH prettier than the new monsters in my opinion.

Silver belt covers are not for me, something else is getting painted.

a 2003 m1000s in red with silver trellis frame....(or the m800 either, goldie!)
