Title: R6 or GSXR front end on a 2004 620
Post by: elduderino on May 04, 2009, 08:47:17 AM
hello everyone,
i was involved in a low side recently and the whole front end of the bike is no more. as im in dubai ducati parts are rare and i have to order everything from abroad, but i was thinking that i could change the whole front end as some of the members here did.
so the question is is this doable ??
oh yeah and both triples are gone
thanks and its nice to see alot of monster owners in one place.

I only have experience with a gsxr fork so I can't speak about the r6.
The gsxr fork will require some parts to be machined, I have a 'how to' on this board just do a search. I used my stock triples and if yours are busted try looking for a set of used ones on fleabay. And while you are in there replace your steer/head tube bearings with rollers if you haven't already.

thanks for the reply rb, yeah i saw your 'how to' before but after reading it in depth i dont think it'll work for me as im as mechanically usefull as an aerodynamic parachute. so ill just hunt for parts on the e of bay, also i wanted to ask which monster upper and lower triples and front wheels are interchangable with a 2004 620..
thanks in advance

I am not sure about what years will fit, but I do k ow you want a 25mm axled wheel. I don't know if yours is 25 or 17 mm.  The triples will have to be measured for the fork ubes per year. I beleive the frame changed after 2001 so that is a starting point but as I said before you will need to measure the fork tube mount hole diameter.

yes i read somewhere that its a 25 mm hollow axle and that i need top triples from any 01 and later monster but what about the lower ones have they also been changed in 01 ??
