Yeah went to the dealership and ogled their bikes. Helped me figure out the lack of a nuetral light. The other wire set I was baffled by?.... der it showed up after I took the tank off.....ohhhhhh, duh the electric fuel pump! No gauges still take a minute before sweeping. ??? Dunno, I'll investigate it more through the weekend.

You know, now that I think about it, WDB saw the Dragon before I did, right out of the crate.  I'm wondering if the Dragon didn't think that WDB was his mommy and conspired to get back to him one way or another.  He probably believes he's finally home now and doesn't have to perform that ungodly guardian duty anymore.  I couldn't take him away after all the effort and painstaking care WDB has spend nursing him back to life.   [cheeky]  Hopefully he'll let me back on board though for an occasion ride down memory lane.

Have you sold the V-strom?  Some guy was on the main board posted  a thread "Pondering a Goldwing" for touring purposes.  You probably already saw it.  I recommended the V-strom and posted a couple pictures of you and Dusty on your bikes.  I'm still in the process of a refi on the house in Colorado Springs and waiting on the insurance settlement  so holding off on major purchases for a bit.

What else...my freezer went out last night while I was at work and my entire green chile stock is at risk.  Thank the Lord it is almost chile season again if the worst happens.  Waiting on the maintenance man now.  Googled it and already checked all the obvious.  I have at least 40 quarts in there.   :'(

i would be more then happy to store some of that if need be [evil]

I leave for work today at 5:30.  My chile is thawed, but cold still so it is still good.  You are welcome to stop by and pick up as many bags as you can use.  I'm going to try to refreeze it if the guy can get the freezer fixed or a new one in here before it turns on me.  I know it probably won't be as good , but I am an addict  plus I have a castiron stomach so I can eat anything without getting sick (famous last words).   [puke]  If anyone else wants some, stop by before I go to work.  I hate to see it go to waste.  Or give me a call and I will leave some on the porch in a cooler for you.   [thumbsup] :'(

Hey Bonfy.  Long time no see . . .  or ride.  Tried to go to Riudoso last Monday.  Got about 15 miles out from Carrizozo and had lightning bolts to the left of me.  Lightning bolts to the right, lightning bolts in front.  Said, OK.  A different day may be better.  Still got rained on on the way back on Rt 380.  I just beat converging storms trhought the mountains.  Kept looking up for lightning, as if I was going to dodge one that a bee line for me. 
Planning on a road trip at the end of the month if finances allow.  Up through Salt Lake City to the Tetons and Yellowstone and then back down through Colorado and take some of those you just burned up.  Any recommendations  . . .  and don't say all of them.
Looking for a DUC night.  If one ever gets posted  . . .  You know what I mean.

hey bonfy, you have been to bear lake?  very cool!  I camped there a few times over the years.

I am going to be about 1/4 mile south west of there on a small lake with no defined trail to it  [thumbsup]

I was camping there on July 4 a couple of years back with my dogs.  The main trail head was packed for the holiday weekend, so I skipped Bear Lake, pulled out the topo and compass and off I went.  What a find!!  It is at the base of a cliff facing Columbia peak...full of wild trout and not a single person!

Yes, DDGM, I have camped in Hornfork Basin.  I heard rockfall all night so I was glad I hadn't made camp at the base of a cliff, as you said.  It took me 13 hours to climb Harvard and Columbia that day.  By the time I got down, I had blisters on both of my heels and my hands were raw from the scree chute coming down off Columbia.  My feet were so swollen the next morning I could barely get my boots on.  My calves were swollen and sctached up for three days.  I also fell backwards on this one pitch that scared me bad enough to still remember it.   It was a rugged hike and the theme song from Hugh Montenegro's "A Fistful of Dollars" kept going through my head as I plowed onward across that ridge and the snowfields.  I wondered if I was on my final hike.  That's what I love about climbing though, is going through grueling stuff and learning what the mountain is trying to teach me.

I started sleeping soundly after I did all these three things simultaneously: increased exercise, lots of fresh air, and cut alcohol completely, not even "just one" glass of wine or beer.  I tried each of them separately or in different combos, but this is the way I finally started sleeping like a rock.   I can't even hear my own snoring anymore.   [laugh] [laugh]

P.S.  I used to have a nighttime ritual which would notify my brain it was time to go to sleep, but I don't need it so much anymore.  I would turn my fan on in the bedroom, hot soak in the tub, play a CD of a bubbling brook, and drink sleepy time tea. 
When my insomnia was really bothersome back in the nineties, I had a self-hynosis countdown ritual with relaxation techniques to lull myself to sleep.  I was still drinking then though it was counter-effective.  It helped when I was finally so exhausted I had to let go of the churning thoughts.

I missed out on the festivities.  Was working in Santa Fe fri/sat.  Dusty went with the Hunk.  It was a last minute thing, so I believe she went as her beautiful self.

I went as the Smelly Pirate Hooker, of course!   I left Lance hanging on the curtain rod in Albuquerque and I was so bummed.  He still made the rounds with WannaDucBad.  I will be picking him up when I get down there next week.  After a couple weeks with WDB, he will be unbearable for awhile.

I am thankful my mom is coming home today from the hospital. She gave my family a scare early tuesday evening with some heart problems but after some extensive tests and 2 days in the hospital she is ok Whew!  :)

Hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving!  We got snow up here and I got a taste of a real Dodge Drift on the way back in from the farm.  Over the river and into the woods Grandma almost went in the Ducati Dodge.  I guess the truck wanted to get in on some of the Bonfy ditch action.  Duallys just don't like snowpack or ice.  I actually pulled it out after a couple swoops left and right.  I guess I am THANKFUL that I stayed out of the ditch, healthy family and friends, and countless blessings.   :D

I have no idea what TOSAT means, but I figured this was the place to announce that the F1 lives and breathes. Tickled the carbs and she fired right up! I have removed the number plates since I don't need any help making the bike attractive to LEO's, rerouted the cables and fuel lines, and hooked up a tail light and brake light.

If you see me revving the engine at an intersection I am not showing off; the Malossi's lack idle jets and screws!

All I need to do now is attach a license plate and have some essential chingadera (side stand, brackets, etc) fabricated. Then I can get her legitimized by MVD. Woot!

I used to have to rev my old CB750 at intersections, I doubt that anyone thought I was showing off either.  Riding that thing was like flying the shuttle. 

I think everyone has owned a CB750, bought mine slightly wrecked in '79, rebuilt it Cafe style, everyone thought I was a freak, they were all into choppers then, that was before Suzuki came out with the Katana, man have styles changed!!  thank GOD for Superbike evolution...

Yeah, I own one of those silly things.  Salvage yard special, blown ta' shit, valves that looked like roses, a lot of vodka, a torch, a welding machine, three cans of gold boat flake, a turbo, Wisco 850 race kit, a buddy (that loves vodka) that is one of the best pinstripers i've ever seen.  And no idea where i'm goin with it.

Wow!  That is SPECTACULAR!  , Kingbaby.  Beautiful job!   Here is my CB750.  WDB and I have passed the title back and forth on that thing so many times, it's like playing Old Maid.  It is back in his name and he has big plans to customize it.  He has mentioned the cafe scheme like KRJ was talking about. 
The difference in weight and power was incredible.  The Monster felt like a feather compared to a covered wagon.

Got this "cold cure" sent to me.  Haven't tried it yet, but it looks like if it doesn't cure a cold at least you won't feel it.  If anyone uses it, let me know how it works.



Dragon Ale (for colds and flu)

4 Cups Brandy
1 Tablespoon Crushed Peppermint Leaves
1 Cup Honey
1 teaspoon Sage
1 Tablespoon Orange Rind
2 teaspoons Cinnamon
2 Whole Cloves
2 or 3 Eucalyptus leaves
Juice of ½ Lemon

In a medium sized saucepan stir the brandy and honey over a low heat
until the
honey is dissolved. Mix the orange rind, cloves, Cardamom, lemon juice,
peppermint leaf, sage, cinnamon, and eucalyptus leaves in a medium sized
container. Add the brandy. Cover, let sit for 2 weeks. Strain. Store in
sterilized glass bottles.

Back in the day  [drink] (we need a shot-slammin emoticon) I had a remedy similar to that.  It was to warm up about 3 oz of Grand Marnier to the point of steaming.  You inhale the steam through your nose until you can't feel it anymore (it's like a ten-penny nail being driven up through your sinuses at first).  Then you slam the shot and suck on a lemon wedge.  This will unclog your sinuses and give a quick sense of euphoria thus erasing any memory of a cold till the next morning.  Repeat as needed.

This makes the gun thread look weak.

I rode with a couple SoCO DOGS today (KRJ and Smokescreen).  They both had fractured fingers in the past and were able to rehab them back to full mobility over the course of a couple years.  So I have hope again.  Here is a shot of the guys today:

I finally got around to watching the leg between Durango and Santa Fe last night.  Thanks for the heads up, Dusty!  Glad they show reruns of the latest episode all through the week.  Got the DVR set now to catch them all.  Yeah, it's a fun show alright.  I'm such a sensitive creature, I don't know if I could take my teammate bellowing orders at me like some of them do through the challenges.  Somebody would lose a face or a nut, then I'd be off the show.   :(

Just wanted to post a quick note announcing the "shinding" JB and I mentioned earlier.  We are looking at either the 22nd or 23rd of this month, down here at our place.  Is that cool with everyone's schedules?  No real theme, other than bikes, of course.  Gonna open up the driveway for bike parking, and we'll do food on the grill and other such party stuff. 

Sound OK?

Wait....let me get this straight....you're providing a venue, food, beverages, movies, "company" (sheep and otherwise), crash cots, and valet parking, and you're asking if it's alright?  Hells yeah, it's alright!! [beer]  It sounds like an excellent excuse to meet more HDH members and stuff.

Should we bring stuff?  Where are we going?  What time should we arrive there?  How late are we welcome to stay?  Is TardYoda (or is it YodaTard?) coming?  (It doesn't matter....I just needed to get in reference to the TardYoda.  That's some good stuff.)

That's my "2 cent"

Ok, let me try to address these questions:

1.  If you would like to bring "stuff" it would be greatly appreciated.  We have not yet decided on a menu, but it will most likely consist of the usual fare (dogs, burgers, chicken, etc).  We would certainly not turn away contributions, so if you want to bring something, please do.

2.  Liquid refreshments provided by us will be mostly beer and some wine.  Sorry, Dylan, no PBR.  However, if you have a particular brew you are fond of, please bring it along.  This is not BYOB, but the more the merrier. 

3.  Bosque Farms.  Directions to follow.  Hick membership cards not required.

4.  "Company" includes 3 dogs, 1 ornery goat, and a pretty cool horse.  "NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR DRUNKEN HORSEBACK INCIDENTS AND/OR INJURIES".

5.  Time is TBD, prolly 6pm or so.

6.  You can stay until we kick you out, but the chihuahua likes to snuggle.  She is pretty cute, though.

7.  You have to ask TardYoda.  I don't know.

It doesn't have as many people, kinda smaller. They are more fast but safe types, like here. Pretty cool peeps, Hilo-boy(Kanseah) and Sir Wads are both awesome. I like most of them but those two are favorites. Kanseah is just seems like a nice guy, and Wads is funny as all make the beast with two backs..... oh yeah the site doesn't allow swearing, so you gotta say $h!t. or phuck, or fack.... interestingly there has been a lot of cross over laterly. It was recently asked what we would do if The guy who owns the site (Jack the Bearded Norwegian), were to hang it up. I mentioned what happened at the DML. Needless to say, Jack mostly lurks but he did pop in long enough to laugh at us and tell us not to worry.  :)

I've always loved '95 916s, but $8k sounds a little high to me.  It is pretty, though.  Kinda makes me feel all warm inside.

If you haven't ridden a 9x6 bike, you should run over to PJs and see if they have a used one you can sample before you buy.  The seating position is RADICALLY different from you Monster, and the seat height is a bit taller, too.  You know what they say, though....once you've had 4 (valves)........

Negative.  I'm working in the Ducati hospitality area as a volunteer in exchange for free tickets, but they didn't include paddock passes.  Last year most folks who bought one were disappointed.  I'll look into buying one on site, as they're usually pretty reasonable at AMA events...though I've never been to a FIM SBK event before!

OMG!!!! You should have seen the "Streetfighter" launch party in Beverly hills! I shot some film and i will post it when I get back. While standing outside i thought i heard an airplane landing in the street.......It was a Desmocedici! Make the beast with two backsing "A"! That is the most amazing engine noise i have ever heard. If i win that damn powerball I am marching right into BH Ducati and when the salesgirl says "Can I ring that up for you/"" you're damn straight you can" will be my response!

You are right about the Desmocedici's sound. I saw two take off from the Ducati cafe in Rome and it was amazing.

This guy walked up to me (either homeless.. or just dirty) starts talking to me "Ahh Ducati.. Thats a nice bike you've got there.. very fine motorcycle.. " "yes Sir this bike is one of the finest! I do love it!"  "yep.. Ducati makes a fine motorcycle.. If your into all that Crotchrocket Bulls@#t!" and walked off.   I couldnt help but laugh..   [laugh]

Now, back to the real world.  I think I've heard that you know something about bicycles.  I'd like to buy a road bike just to putter about on to get some cardio without the bone jarring impact inherent in all of the activities I really like.  My joints are horrible and the only thing I've found that I can do and somewhat enjoy is spinning, but I think proper cycling would be much better because I wouldn't have to sit inside a room with a bunch of picky fanatics (like DDGM? :o).  Where should I start?  Who makes a bicycle with a book holder on the bars (to hold my copy of "The Picture of Dorian Gray") and a tissue dispenser (to wipe away my tears of shame)?  What local shop is the best to deal with?  Steel, Aluminum, CF or Ti?  Shimano or Campagnolo?  Red or black (or Chartreuse)?  Where's the best bang for the buck.  This will NEVER be used competitively, but I'd like something robust that will tolerate a large operator in reasonable comfort, and with good reliability and smooth operation.

Anything come to mind?  Does anybody locally sell preowned (we used to call this condition "used", but retailers have removed that term from our lexicon)?  I researched this a few years ago and kinda decided on a Bianchi or Specialized with Shimano 105 or better gear, but I'm sure lots has changed since then.
