Fellow DMFers,
I just got a new Dell (with Vista) and I've been trying to install iTunes on it for a couple days. Here is what happens.
1. Installed iTunes
2. Windows said iTunes didn't install correctly, but it still opens after double-clicking on the iTunes icon.
3. I tried to uninstall iTunes to reinstall it (hopefully correctly), but then I get the blue screen of death.
4. Everytime I try to do something with installing or uninstalling iTunes, I get the BSOD.
I've been reading online that there have been issues with Vista and iTunes, but it seems that the newest version (8.1) fixes these issues, but it's not helping me right now. I've been trying some of the fixes online, but nothing is working. I'm getting ticked [bang]
Can anyone help a brother out please? Your knowledge is greatly appreciated.
What happens when you double click to open iTunes?
Windows tells me that iTunes wasn't installed correctly and that I need to reinstall it, but it still opens.
So iTunes opens and works? Let it go then...
That's what I'm thinking, but we'll see what happens when I try to connect my iPod and transfer my library.
Give it a shot. I've had iTunes on my Vista for over a year with no problems...
Just a thought...you perhaps have a 64bit version of Vista but are using the 32bit version of ITunes? (It works but is twitchy as hell as is described above).
Right click My Computer, select properties. It will say whether you have a 64bit version or 32bit version of Vista. If you have a 32bit version of Vista and ITunes then I am at a loss.
If you have a 64bit version of Vista, do a search for ITunes 64 bit from the ITunes home page.
