Title: Question About Ohlins Side-mount Damper
Post by: Ivan on May 06, 2009, 04:10:58 PM
For those that have the subject damper....

Any issues with the mounting bracket damaging the powder coat on the frame?

Maybe I'm over-thinking this, but I'm worried about the possibility of the finish getting damaged, allowing the frame to rust.

I've had mine mounted for about 3 years now and recently removed it to clean...happy to find no rust or even marring on the frame.  [thumbsup]

It's been through lots of rain storms in Seattle, sun in San Diego and now frequent commutes out to the coast where I work in The Bay Area.

I was worried about the samething. I sent an email to Kyle Racing since they have one for my bike. They wrote back stating it won't scratch up the frame or Ohlin forks.

5 years (2004 S4R) ... no problems here.

Small piece of clear 3m will ensure nothing happens...

I grab some scraps from a local installer.

you won't have a problem. besides, if there WAS any cosmetic damage, you wouldn't be able to see it, because the damper would be covering it.

Thanks for the feedback.

They don't list a P/N specifically for the S2R1000.  I assume that the damper kit for the S2R or S4R will fit (P/N: SD154 at Hardracing.com), can anyone confirm this?
