I don't see any red Desmo plate on the back of that 848.

So are ya taking the piss or have you swapped the Monster.
If you have I'm envious and I'll swap you a ride one day.  [thumbsup]

hmm, tibby, looks like those photos  were taken close at the same time.you very cleverly focused on the 848,giving us the illusion of non linear
time span so as to try and fool us into believing you dont have two simultaneous bikes thus coming to the conclusion that you are a......Double Adaptor!
i knew it , i farfarfarcken  knew it.  [moto]

could be a done deal!

I have lead you all along the garden path. Just a little.  ;D

If you did not notice, I said that my bike was being serviced. I took it in yesterday.

Organising the service last week, I rang two places. They both were busy at the time I rang & they would ring me back to organise a date for servicing. The first shop that rang me back got the job.

So, this shop rang me back. They said to leave it with them for a couple of days. I asked them if they knew of any hire car companies around their workshop so I could get home & to work while the bike is in. No, I don't think so was their reply.  :-\

You see where this is going.  :D

Speaking to them out of my arse, thinking they would say no straight away, I asked them if they could loan me a bike. 'Ah, I'll just ring my boss, I'll call you back.'  Rings me back 2 minutes saying 'Yeah, not a problem.'

I turn up yesterday & they were going to give me the Hyper, they give me the 848 instead.

So, I have been tooting around on the 848 since yesterday.  [moto]

I'm guessing Penrith Ducati got the job then.
Sorry didn't read anywhere here that the bike was going for service, must have been in another thread.
So how much fun is/has the 848 been.

The suggestion was that he was going to 'do a Craigo' ... take the bike in for a service then decide it was more economical (better value) to put the cash towards an upgrade.

Might be a bit late for that now  :'(

we're ALL going to get our bikes serviced at this place form now on!

well done...this could be the final nail in the 620's coffin!

I'm guessing Penrith Ducati got the job then.

How did you guess?

Who was the other shop that I rang then?

Anyway, big thanks to Ducati Penrith. A small shop with only 3 blokes working there, from what I could gather. Just hope they look after the little girl.

Right, to the 848. I can't remember if you rode one Matt but I reckon this thing is a beast! Turn the thing on and it sounds like it wants to rip your bloody arms off. When it was first switched on when I picked it up, you know those grins you get where no amount of trying to straighten your face will get rid of it, that was me yesterday.  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D  Did I mention this thing is LOUD!

Of course, the two bikes are like night & day, my little Monster feels so soft suspension wise & weak power wise compared to this thing. I suppose it's like driving around in a Holden then having to drive a Ferrari. You feel every bump and the seat is about as soft as a plank, the minerals were taking a pounding against the tank.  :-[   And it gets real hot real quick under your thighs with the heat from the pipes, a good winter bike. It stops nearly too well, I thought the clutch was dry at first because of the noise and how hard it was to use. It looks like a race bike, it sounds like it & from my experience, I felt like I was on one.  8)

Would I buy one at the moment, no. I couldn't ride it every day. If I had a car to get me to work and the 848 for weekends, I would buy it in a heartbeat, if I could afford it. $20k for a used one, I've already started looking.  [coffee]    Doesn't mean I'll buy one though.  :-\

They did offer me an ex demo 696 for $12k. Don't know about that one though.  ???

..... and what happened to 'permission to upgrade'? I'd hate for you to miss your chance

Funny thing is, I said to the better half, with excitement in my voice, 'You've gotta see this bike they've given me!'

'Oh that's right, you took your bike for a service today'

'YEAH! And you should see........'

'You're not getting another bike'

WTF! [bang]  Why do they change their minds like that!  [bang]

Why do they do almost everything?

weird little things...thank god they are here though!

speaking of looking at 2nd hand...

the market is officially FLOODED with 2nd hand 1098....have a look at bikepoint, page after page of them....wonder how many are under finance? 848's, Matty and I kept an eye open and it started as a trickle and it's started to happen.....they'll hit $18,000 within a few months (sure you could get one for that now with cash). Spoke to a dealer today who reckons you can't sell a good 999 for any more than $16k.

Interesting times...you'll get something when it's time to get rid of the 620.....800's are quite popular.....should be able to get one for 10k.
