The 2010 Chevrolet Camaro has only been on sale for a couple of weeks, but unfortunately for GM, a problem has already cropped up. The automaker has just issued a product safety recall (note, link is to a PDF of notice) for V-8 powered models. Some early owners have been plagued by short circuits stemming from the starter making a connection with an exposed battery positive cable. Dealers will reportedly remedy the problem by temporarily by wrapping the battery cable with insulating tape and then rerouting it to avoid damaging contact. All the components for a permanent fix that includes sturdier engine wiring harness tape will be had by May 11. Should a short circuit occur, the vehicle could fail to start, cut off at any moment during operation, or in the worst case scenario, ignite an engine compartment fire. Owners will immediately be notified and accommodated if any repairs are deemed necessary, and are reportedly being told to have the vehicles taken to the dealer by trailer if possible. Thankfully for GM, the issue was detected early on and should only affect a small number of Camaro owners.
FAIL.
At least it's an easy fix.

That is beyond funny. That is make the beast with two backsing hilarious. Read some of the comments. For that cable to short out in 40 miles it must have been a really poor design and smashed in between something.

The good news is the Camaros with the 4-cyl out of the Focus are doing just fine...

I work for GM supplier (not electrical). You would think the Chevy guys walk on water when they come to inspect or audit. How they get bad components from people with all of the quality stuff they put in place is beyond me.
thats the car that will look hot for 2 years then it will just look weird on the road

Yup-it's be weird. I'd be all Holy Shit-one of them is still running!
When GM is burning 100 million dollars a day, and selling like 4 cars a day, you would think they could at least get those 4 right.

Make sure you point this out to to your friends in the F-body car club when they invite you to their next track day. ;)
I'll never buy a GM product.............ever. I just hope Ford pumps out some trucks that are as good as the Japanese models (as in mpg and dependability and cost) because I would buy one..........until then I'll stick with either Toyota or Nissan(trucks). [thumbsup]
