Title: Don't make the same stupid mistake I did!
Post by: psycledelic on May 08, 2009, 03:17:45 PM
Ok, this might be very minor and somewhat wasted topic, but maybe I can save someone else from making the same mistake.  I had my tank flipped up the other day and must have turned the latch that secures the tank down a half of rotation.  When I fastened it back, the latch ring was turned around backwards (the ring was angled back toward the tank instead of toward the hook).  It must have pulled the tank differently because when I went to install my new bar ends today, I noticed that the ignition cover was touching the tank on the right side.  I lifted the tank back up and it had dug into the plastic.  After a couple minutes of trying to figure out why it wasn't centered, I noticed the latch was backwards.  I turned it around and the tank centered right up.  Now I guess I am going to have to spring for a paint job (wife is probably gonna think I did it on purpose).  Just a heads up.

So was the mistake the wife? Because getting a new paint job is never a mistake.

Sorry, I didn't take any pics and I have already covered up.  When you unlatch the tank, it is pretty easy to tell.  The ring that hooks to the frame should be slightly bent away from the tank.  Not promising, but it might be worth a look.

Lord no.  She makes all of the money.  If not for her, I would probably be posting on the BuellBlastForum because the way that I manage money, that would be all I could afford.  And my Buell would have to be used or an outcast from the Rider safety class.

She doesn't ride, but she is pretty resourceful.  I imagine she has used this page for research when I start talking about buying things.  I remember seeing a pretty distinct shiver in her when I first mentioned Termignoni (the same shiver I had when the dealer mentioned the price to me).  She had to get the low down from somewhere.  So, just in case,

I love you honey! (not you Raux)

It pays to be a MD.  But I consider myself to be the smart one.  I mean, she graduated top of her class in high school (I was about 40th).  She attended Chapel Hill (I am attending a 2 year school).  She spent 6 years in college, 1 year in rotations, and 2 years in residencies (I will be done in 2).  She put in all the work (and I married her).   ;D
