Title: Barnett Red Clutch Packs...Sticky after wash

Does anyone use the barnett red plates and notice that they get stuck after you wash the bike with an open clutch cover? I dont spray water into it, but if it even sees water, they wil get stuck. ill have to open them up and wack the plates and maybe reset a few of them otherwise my bike will be stuck in 1st gear even with the clutch in.

This even happens with 4 springs!

After a ride in the rain, too.  I just start off and it comes out of it.

Yea, I've got one on a 996 and it will glued together if it gets wet and drys sitting.  I took it apart and noticed all the disc faces were imprinted with the friction disc pattern and crusty.  Looks like the friction material is somewhat water soluble?  Best suggestion is to either cover it up with a closed cover or be sure to run it dry immediately after washing.

oh well, didnt have the key at the time and i washed my bike, made sure not to hose that section, yet some how an hour later the thing is stuck again.

Any advantages from the barnetts to the OEM packs? i think im going to go with OEM next time around... ive heard some stories about barnetts not lasting that long.

I hear the OEM discs are pretty pricey.

it was her first real wash in 1,000 miles! cut me some slack! before that were just a bunch of rain showers.  :P

I dont know how much the OEM's cost but if they wear less then the barnetts its probably worth it, if its under 250. but at that cost i might as well try surflex or motowheels brand.
