Title: 696 Sidestand Swap
Post by: Takster on May 11, 2009, 09:34:29 AM
Kind of a longshot, but I'm trying to get out of paying $173 for a replacement kickstand for the bent one on my 696.  Can't find one on ebay.  Does anybody know if one from a previous model monster will fit?

Alternatively, am I just asking for trouble if I try to bend it back manually?

His bike got mowed by a clueless minivan driver while parked... pole vaulted on its kick stand. :-X

I'm sure that it's on the list of things that Motocreations is looking to make for the 696, they're looking for parts to fit off of.  If you send them the bent stand, maybe they can send you back a prototype of the stand they'll produce from it?  Don't know what the turn around might be...

( i don't speak for them, just want them making parts for my bike.)  [moto]

What material is it? ive had luck bending aluminum ones back (those were on the S2R models), with the iron ones you could use a mapp torch and heat it up and hammer it back into place.

if you take a snap shot of how the 696 stands look like, i could tell you if an S2R would work or not.

I'm pretty sure that it's tubular steel.

it looks like it mounts the exact same way as a 695, and i know for a fact you can put an S2R stand onto a 695 so it might be worth a try.

Id try using a torch to heat it up then hammer it back in place while you source that out.

Interesting.  I'll look around and see if I can find an s2r/695 stand.  Thanks for the info.
