Hopefully all the recall issues have been taken care of by then.

Then again...... maybe it's just for the SS edition. [bang]

No

Congrats on the new car though. [thumbsup] I've seen a few of the new Challengers lately. I really like those!   ;D

Its gonna take more than one car model to get them out of trouble.  You may want to move this to NMC.

Congrats on the new car! It's a good looking car and I love the lineage to the classic Camaro. However, I'm still floored that it only gets 18mpg in the city and 26 on the highway - and that's the V6.

So to answer your question, in a market that's already hurting, I have doubts that a muscle car with unimpressive fuel consumption will save GM. That's not to say that it won't be super fun to drive, but realistically it's the consumer/fuel friendly models that will save the company.

I believe the recall only affected the SS models, mine is the 2LT (V6).  Besides by the time mine is built, they will have that bug worked out.

I was thinking of putting this in NMC, but the camaro has a motor???LOL

I wonder if people said the same thing about the Sportster that brought H-D out of their AMF days of glory???

1 last point.  Say what you want about economy cars, Americans just don't seem to buy them.  I agree that they have their place, but they are a niche market.  I just bought a V-6 (North) American built car that will out run a BMW 325i, and paid less than $30K.  Yes, it's built in Canada, but the profits from it sale will go to the US economy also!!

Um, 18/29 on a reported 306 hp motor is  :o

Compared to a 370z,   18/26 332 hp

Seems about par for the course.  Hell the 426hp big motor is rated at 16/24  [evil]

The only thing that will save GM is a bankruptcy filing and some heavy union concessions. It's funny how Toyota and Honda pretty much build here what they sell here and keep workers happy without the UAW......hmmmm.  Honda and Toyota probably do a better job of keeping money here in the US than the big 3 do.

i dont know why you would get a v6 version of that car. its so... diluted... like a v6 mustang. How much more is the V8 packages? it might just be worth the extra... 120hp! granted the v6 isnt shy, but if you ride it like it has a v8, your mpg will probably be pretty close to the v8 anyway...minus 120 extra hp.

Anyone happen to notice that the hood vent on the new Camaro would make for a perfect Knight Rider strobing light???

KITT would have made a much better looking car as Camaro than a Mustang.

I figure the V-6 is a triple savings....

Insurance, Gas, and Tickets.  304 Hp seems like plenty for the street!!
it works for me, if not for you, then get the V-8 and enjoy it...

That's like saying why would anyone buy a 620, or 696???  They have faster bikes!!! [roll]

1 last point.  Say what you want about economy cars, Americans just don't seem to buy them.  I agree that they have their place, but they are a niche market.

That must be why Honda Civics and Toyota Corollas are consistently the best selling cars in the U.S.  People must not be buying them compared to American muscle cars.  [roll]

Correction, the profits will buy a box of staples for the office people here in the U.S.....the rest into the pockets of the CEOs and the rest for bonuses for the big wig suits.
The profits would of been for the UAW workers, but they are conveniently laid off now.

From the sound of the road tests I've read, it's a nice ride - even the V6 version.  [thumbsup]

That said, the new Camaro won't save GM. They need way more than a limited-market musclecar to turn the tides....

Not very likely to outsell Mustang either from what I've read.

Congrats!! I saw one of the V6's this weekend when I was picking up my 'vette. It is a nice looking ride. My only gripe is the 3800 lb curb weight.
