Title: Vibration issue.
Post by: monstermania on May 13, 2009, 01:12:54 PM
I just had my 696 serviced by a dealer I have never used before. I had them do a chain service, clean, tighten and lube, and they removed the charcoal canister. Since the service I have noticed that my bike has a vibration when I am slowing to stop. I don't even have to brake to feel the vibration. Does any one know what this might be from? I noticed the chain seemed tighter than usual, could this cause the vibration? Or anything else someone may know about.

Likely the chain is too tight.

The 696 wants a pretty loose chain, 46 - 48mm.  Better to err on the side of loose.

+1  Mine doesn't really vibrate, but it's noticeably smoother when I adjust the chain to the 'looser' end of the slack ~48mm I believe.
