On my bike I have the high mount Remus Titanium pipes. I just noticed this year that the bow that attaches to each side of the swingarm and then attaches to the shock is hitting the left side pipe. It's leaving a mark, maybe a ding. I can hear the suspension hit something maybe once every few weeks but couldn't find it. Do I need to adjust the spring to make it stiffer so it won't hit the pipe or maybe is this just by design flaw when they made the pipe? If I sit on the bike and jump on it I can't duplicate it but if I hit a hard enough bump I can hear it. It could have been doing this since new and never noticed, but you think I would after 43K!
I would adjust the muffler so it didn't hit.
It sounds simple but I can't. When I pull the muffler off and just have the pipe there is no play in it. Thats why I was thinking maybe a bend on the pipe was a little off.

Could you put a washer/spacer in there to move the can away from the hoop?
How about bending the bracket?

The hoop actually hits the pipe about 2 or 3 inches in front of the can. The can is held on to the pipe with 2 springs and if i move the bracket that holds the can it just moves the can not the pipe. There are no brackets for the pipe which is one piece coming from both cylinders. After looking again, there is no room to move the pipe. It comes behind the rearset with no room to spare. It must be a poor design and like I said, it probably did it since new. I just wasn't sure if maybe the suspension was to soft and was getting too mush travel and hitting the pipe.
The exhaust needs to clear throughout suspension travel. A possible cure could be having the "S" pipe bent to allow clearance. Then again, they should fit. Loosen and move the header pipe maybe? Posting a photo might help.
Another option would be to 'relieve' the pipe in the area that hits.
Seems like it was intended for non-hoop monsters. 02+
I'll get a photo posted this weekend. I did loosen the header and tried moving but not much there. I had the kit installed when i purchased the bike new in the fall of 01 so I guess it could be made for 02+ since I was within that time frame.
That was my only thought, since you mentioned it was hitting the hoop. The hoopless monsters have more clearance, but i've never seen anything about the hoop causing problems before, so maybe there's a pretty simple fix that we've yet to think of.
