It was Landshark 3...Larry.
I've never met Mark ...or Larry.
7 1/2 years as a trade for a lifetime of living with one leg?
You all tell me. Who got the better deal?

Yep.
mitt
Sad.
At least last we heard, landshark's brother was doing well.
The injured party never gets a good deal. 71/2 or 15years, neither can make up for the loss.
Could you change the thread title please..
Landshark's brother loses..
not only leg..but..lengthy court battle to drunken-f*cking-cop who nearly killed him and gets hand slapped by judge.
Out in 3 for good behavior!!
[bang]
f*cker!!
Yeah, I said it..but before you get your pants in a tiz..nobody is bashing cops!! [roll] It could have been a drunken lawyer, drunken doctor, a drunken 17 year old prom queen!! I'd still be saying the same thing! In this case it was a cop! Someone who is supposed to uphold the law!! >:(
I always love the word "accident" in cases such as these.
[leo] It's their system.
Adam,
If you keep it up this won't end well.
It would be best if you forget about the offenders profession.
Just sayin'
If it were my leg I lost.....
I'd rather just have one off the offender as a replacement.
Then I'd kick him with it. "Stop kicking yourself...stop kicking yourself....stop KICKING yourself!" :P

I suppose I'd have to wear a heel on that one. I'd then accuse him of having a transvestite leg.

you could do multiple parts during rocky horror picture show night
8 years in protective custody. His buddies taking care of him. No sweat, no chance of any street/jail justice coming at him. Got off rather light I'd say. I'm really surprised that the police union didn't make a big stink about it.
Guys, you seem to forget that the dude is a cop. Those 7 1/2 years? They're gonna amount to hell.
With the amount of anal pillaging and beatings this guy is gonna get, I'll be surprised if he makes it past his first year.
you don't think he'll serve in protective custody? I've never been to prison and pretty much all I know about life behind bars comes from the Discovery Channel and Oz, but in both there's a wing for cops and "rats" separate from genpop.

Speaking of spoons and eyes..
I was rolling a body to the morgue in Tucson Medical Center. When I arrived..a guy came in a removed the "body's" eyes for donation. He literally used a spoon to "scoop" them out. Intriguing but the sound when he scraped the bone nearly made me [puke]
IZ, next time I see you I am going to make you give me your history. How you where there at one point and do what you do now... I just can't connect the 2.

Is there a civil suit following the criminal court decision? If I were him, I'd go after everything he's got. I am PO'ed at the fact that the driver broke the laws that he spent his life upholding. That's totally a slap to his own face.
I want to make a comment but don't want to offend. I don't disagree with the sentence so let's get that straight.
If this were to have happened in Oregon...the offender would have got maybe a year or two. In my county, a guy hit and killed a little girl. He was likely drunk, fled the scene, and put deer hair in his crashed car to make the auto body people believe he hit one. He was ultimately convicted and sentenced to 18 months in prison. The drunk driver that hit me and a friend was given sixty DAYS in custody and that can be road crew. I have permanent neck/back pain and it was 64 minutes to cut me out of the car.
So this tragedy is horrible but at least Arizona has the resources to deal with it. He would have got almost nothing here. My friend lost his leg to a drunk driver while riding his motorcycle and the guy got nothing.

Yeah, I've done a few things over the years..but they do (somehow) all connect!!

I believe there is, but keep in mind that the guilty party had no insurance on his vehicle at the time of the incident.

Intereseting since they did just do an double arm/hand transplant recently...no? provided the victim is lucky enough th have a matching blood type.
its good that the person got some time, and with any luck they will never be able to have another job with any sort of responsiblity besides flipping burgers or asking "do you want fries with that" for the rest of their lives.
like i have always said, if you want to seriously injure, main or KILL someone and either get a slap on the wrist or even better PROBATION, then hit a person riding on two wheels, bicycle or motorcycle.
bicycle is best because basically nobody goes to jail for hitting a cyclist.. so next time you hate someone wait till they are on a sunday afternoon ride...and you will literally and figuratively get away with murder..
but seriously, its sad but true that cyclists and motorcycle riders are treated as second class citizens.
best wishes to landsharks brother and family.
