Ok, so I was going to post up about this in the local AZ section, but was so taken back and in shock to have actually seen what we saw today that I had to share it with the general population.
So today we were out in our car running some errands and just doing regular Saturday stuff. We were on the interstate heading in the direction of our house when we noticed a guy coming down an on ramp to the highway on an orange sport bike. Not suprised he was wearing jeans, a t-shirt, and of course sunglasses for protection.
Now that really doesn't seem so far out of the ordinary, afterall it's squid season. What completely left us floored was that at about 65mph he reached in his pocket, pulled out his cell phone and was clearly texting while he rode down the highway!!!
Completly in shock I pulled up next to him and honked the horn twice just to say "hey! Pay attention." It wasn't a rude honk just a quick HEY!!!! When he looked over I gave him the "no no" finger wag and we just kept going on our way.
After a second we heard his exhaust and he pulled up next to us and looked to see us, I taped my finger against my forehead like "think buddy, that was dumb" and his reaction was suprisingly that of "yeah you're right".
We were at a total and complete loss of words to have actually witnessed that which has only been seen in YouTube videos. Anyway, we just wanted to share our little OMG moment because we're still in disbelief over it!!!!
Ride safe everyone!!
I've seen a guy on a dual sport actually talking on the phone while riding about 40. Same amount of gear as your guy. It floored me.
Several years ago while riding down Scottsdale Rd..I saw a guy riding, smoking and talking on cell. Left hand on throttle. Right hand smoking. Right shoulder supporting phone. This went on all the way to Mill Ave/ASU campus.
OMG!!!
yesterday while riding, we saw a group of 50-60 bikes...
... and not one helmet :-\
Yep, they probably all have claustrophobic trouble and can't wear a helmet.
Its a common disease here in Denmark among Harley riders and old folk.
You just have to go to the doctor and tell him to get a free pass.
Fine with me...keeps hospital costs low..
I am a gear freak, mesh or leather even in town...but no helmet ?? that's just asking for it.
Texting while riding... that's pretty impressive.
No, wait, what's that other thing? Oh right, dumb as shit. [roll]
In Hawaii the dude would have been wearing "rubba slippas" (flip-flops) too. It's a classic. No hat, no jacket, shorts, and no shoes. Nothing could possibly go wrong today. And while I'm at it I think I'll call my ex to help me stay focused! :-* it goodbye baby.
wow.
that SO beats the lady who was following me that one day... FLOSSING HER TEETH!!! she ran wide off the road twice before I had the chance to get away from her :(

We couldn't believe that the dude was actually texting while riding. We really wished that we had had the camera with us to take a picture!!! Who in their right mind would do something like that!!!
Saturday I saw a bunch of bikes too. It was the Richard Petty ride for kids group ~
JM
I take it you haven't seen this before...
This is How We Roll in India (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=klteYv1Uv9A#lq-lq2-hq-vhq) [leo]
Saw a dude riding a Harley with a grown German Shepard on the back.
Saw a dude riding a cruiser with a cat on the tank.
In Naples Italy, I saw a family of five on a big scooter. Dad was piloting and making his way through traffic.......WHILE SMOKING A CIGARETTE! No helmets on any of em....
Wow.. I am reading a lot of envy and jealousy here guys..
Just because you are not coordinated enough to multi-task while riding or not a good enough rider to skip the helmet doesn't mean you should judge others...

I think that there's some sarcasm there that's somewhat understated.
What? Where??
;D
[laugh]
I got the sarcasm from his post and missed it in yours!!!

Checking . . . .
Yes.
I've seen riders talking on their cell phones in a few instances. One was the classic middle-aged guy on the OCC-type choppa - he was doing about 60 mph on an open-piped bike while trying to maintain a 'conversation'.
Another time, I saw a rider near my house who was chatting on a cell phone that was tucked up in her half-helmet's straps. [roll]

You can tell that that dog is seriously loving that though.

Yup, just like the German Shepherd I saw on a trailer behind a Harley, he was wearing aviator goggles and leaning on the front rail of the trailer..........it was so cool, I wanted a pic, but on the windy section of 40 going into NC from TN I didn't want to risk hitting them digging for the camera. I just smiled and enjoyed it, I'd do the same but I fear my dog would get hurt somehow.

Won't the dog lose his hearing from the wind roar? I always think about that when I see cars w/ dogs' heads poking out the side windows.

There's some guy in my hood, east bay, that rides around with what looks like an plastic cooler/ice chest on the rear of his bike, with a big dog in it. Crazy, but sorta cool for the dog.
My favorite one though, is a guy I've seen around often, riding his cruiser with shorts, sandals, novelty helmet and...yes talking on his cell phone while riding with one hand. That floors me.
Paging IZ, Adam please report to this thread...
Saw a guy riding a goldwing with a monkey in the back seat in the gaslamp district of San Diego. Both had matching half helmets on, covered in stickers.
