This weekend a bunch of my neighbors and friends did a ride to Palm Springs on the 74. What an awesome route! How come no one ever mentioned this route before... [roll]. We did the usual stops at Hell's Kitchen and detoured into Idyllwild so the Harley guys could [drink]. As we hit the last 15 miles of downhill twisties I had to bid my cruiser buddies adieu. [moto] I literally had the whole road to myself until the last few miles. A group of Ford GT's pulled in behind me from a look out and one decided to chase me. Let's just say my chicken strips are much smaller now. :o. After waiting for my buddies to arrive we made our way to the hotel where much beer and other libations were consumed.
It was a great trip, with good friends, but one thing I don't get, I was the only one with gear on. Yes it was 103F in Palm Springs and I was roasting, but the idea of sliding across hot asphalt on bare skin did not appeal to me. We had some friends come down in a car so they shot some not too exciting video.
The only bad thing on the trip, the other Ducati was a 99 SS and the clutch went out about half way and he ended up taking the slab to PS.
