hello motorheads ;D
i was just wondering (considering we now have 4,455 members) where does everyone come from? since not everyone reads the "introductions" once they've posted their own intro, i thought it would be fun to do this.
i know a large majority comes from the US but i know lots of monsters are living all over the world. i travel (outside the US) for fun and work at least twice a year so i'm very curious to know where you are... ;D
sorry but i generalized quite a bit (there's a lot of countries) so please let me know if i should add another option.
but please chime in and let us know your exact country/city/duc....please don't be shy as i'm sure lots of people are interested.you can vote a maximum of 3 times if you live in multiple places like myself. it doesn't count if you're in the military and you've been stationed in a few different places.
it would be cool to greet us in your own language as well [cheeky]
okay i'll start:
hello,
i have an S4 Foggy and i grew up and live in New York City. past year and a half i've been bi-coastal between NYC and Los Angeles (la la land)

I'm in Panama City, Republic of Panama, my ride is a 2005 620 Monster Dark, down due to accident, but on its way to recovery.
This is a pic of my ride the day I pick it up with clutch and alternator covers painted black. Pics were taken with cellphone camera, not too good.

It`s about 1400 kilometers from Cape Town
Cape Town is at the southern most tip of Africa, I know the dealer manageress there well, could maybe hook you up.
If you come to Johannesburg you will come in at The OR Tambo International Airport, which is 10 minutes from my house, maybe have a couple a beers at The main Ducati dealership in South Africa if you want or show you some specials built at my local dealer in Edenvale by Moto Frisoli. [thumbsup]

No, I was in Antarctica from October 99 to October 00. I didn't get the Duc until 2007. It would have been tricky to fit the 620 in the two bags which was all they allowed us for personal gear anyway. And I'm not sure how well it would have run on JP-8, which is all they had for gas. And I'm positive I couldn't have kept it under 25mph all year. (station speed limit, if they caught you speeding too many times they fire you and send you home.)

Nah, Mcmurdo Station is on the coast, not the pole, so summer temps are comparatively mild ranging from 0 to 32 degrees F. Which would totally be riding weather with the right gear.
Winter was mostly about -20 F, August averaged about -40 F, occasionally in the winter the wind chill would drop to -100 or more, I wouldn't want to ride on those days anyway, the blowing snow during a hurricane blizzard would mean you couldn't see more than 3-4 feet.

I voted awhile ago and just checked it today...I find it very interesting that in the land of eternal bikedom...West coast (Cali)...we got ya beat here on the east coast !
I understand it in a way though. At the beginning of the riding season I typically am on the bike any chance I get but as the season is in full bloom, I ride less often just for the joy of riding but have to have a legit destination, a "reason" to ride...I can see myself riding that way all the time if the weather was seldom a factor.
Don't know if that makes any sense to anyone else but...it is my story.

I offer a pictorial review:
San Francisco is by no means a perfect place. "Summer" comes, if we're lucky, in September, October and the first 2 weeks of February after you've frozen your arse off all December through July. ??? ("freezing" = 55F and foggy)
Parking costs what some people pay in rent; rent for a 500 SQ' flat is what some people pay for house with 3 car garage.
It's sometimes hard to tell the gender of someone your talking to on the bus, and its next to crazy trying to find someone who agrees on the politics of any subject. For this reason, we are home to the homeless, holding many thousands of wondering souls that no one seems to know what to do with.
That said there are more Ducati here than anywhere else outside Italy, and that's saying something. (this poll may prove otherwise...) There are endless spectacular rides around the coast and inland. It comes down to that.

Our holidays include thousands naked and or costumed running through the streets in July, "Bay to Breakers Run (http://images.google.com/images?q=Bay+to+Breakers&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&ei=4Xe5Sty8CZL0sgOxgogd&sa=X&oi=image_result_group&ct=title&resnum=4)"
and the first week of Sept. what seems like 20% of the city leaves for the deep desert to join 70,000 others also naked and or in costume to watch a human edifice, made of wood burn, party like there's no tomorrow and build indescribable and awe inspiring sculpture/architecture and vehicles, usually of massive proportions.

Do you see a pattern here?
It would appear we like to dress up IF we get dressed at all and party, and ride Ducati a lot around here.
Sometimes we ride around with no undies downtown just to stop traffic.

First time I drove to San Francisco after moving to the bay area (17 years ago) I saw a guy running around under a freeway overpass, wearing a spiked leather leotard and nothing else. :-X
