Title: Brake/clutch reservoir
Post by: love2bike on May 18, 2009, 05:31:01 PM
Looking at my 2003 620ie I noticed that the front break reservoir is larger/higher that the clutch reservoir. Is the normal? Just want to make sure the previous owner did not switch one out for what ever reason.

I also noticed that the clutch assembly does not have the two small holes for me to add the clutch switch so I can start the bike in gear. I thought all 03 620ie had the switch on them.

I might have to post a picture for you to see.

Not sure on your switch question.

But it's totally normal for the clutch reservoir to be smaller than the one for your front brakes.  Your clutch has got one piston of a smaller diameter than any one of the 8 pistons in your brake calipers.  So you need a larger volume of fluid from the get go.  Also, as the pads wear down, more fluid needs to be drawn into the system below the master.
