I swear Rossi's got radar and GPS in the top of his head.
There's no other explanation for it.

I think he dropped a roach on the previous lap and is looking for it.

it goes back further...here's Frankie Chili...

and here's an image of an old DML'r and duc.ms'r (don't remember his name/handle) on a track day in Greece from a few years back that I saved as an example of what you can do on a Monster that goes nicely with what we are discussing here...

I never felt comfortable leaning my S4RS over that far, I'm sure it was just me.

Elias' position always makes me laugh... where'd he go??!!

Damn! I loved that bike!!

It was capable of surprising the hell out of Jap 600 riders and did on many occasions ;)

It was rock steady in turns, just a little reluctant to turn in.

time and examples....

thank you, Captain Obvious.  :)

was Chili an example of looking through the corner (everyone else) or down (rossi)?

"Release" corner at MMP:

Corser looking down?  He took 2nd place in race one, but crashed in this same corner in race 2.

Checa looking through the corner (Kiyonari in back).  Checa won both races.

I'd kill myself if I tried to copy Rossi's style.

So, oh great derby, what is to be made of that?  Is there a Rossi secret, or is it just coincidence the greatest rider ever looks down instead of doing what the books say?

I thought he said something to the effect that he already knows where the track goes?

In this picture he seems to have his head down, but eyes up:

it's one of those bizarre rossi'isms.  says it helps him make small adjustments throughout the corner.

watch -- you can see him start to look into/through any corner like a normal rider and then actually change his focus to right in front of the bike once he's got it turned.  completely insane.

Of course, Rossi sometimes looks through his helmet too. (new classic?)
