Title: M900 Brake line redo....
Post by: rgramjet on May 18, 2008, 09:37:44 AM
I mounted clip ons a while ago and the brake line slack is driving me nuts not to mention the cumbersome "splitter" that takes up so much room behind the headlight.

Ive been looking at a couple different setups.  One has a double banjo bolt at the lever with seperate left and right lines.  Today I was checking out pics of a 696 and it has a single line to a double banjo bolt at the right caliper with a short line hooping over the fender to the left side caliper.  Im kind of liking the latter setup....

Any suggestions/input?

TIA

spiegler (sp) makes lines any way you want them. check them out on the web.
Very nice quality.

That sort of set up is pretty common on faired sport bikes.  I think even some other ducs use it.

Don't see why you couldn't do it

I put that style on mine.

I bought it off ebay. It was listed for an earlier SBK.

I think you could use an SS style also.

The fitting angle at the caliper is the thing you have to watch for.

I'm looking at the SS and monster in my garage, and I'm sure you could use SS style lines, but they've got a split in the line that clips into the front fender. It'd work, but might be akward with out an SS fender.

The SBK line I use is almost identical and just sits there without the clip on the fender.

YMMV

Oh yes, I'm quite confident all would work fine, just asthetically might not be the best with the t-fitting floating just above the tire.

No T fitting, just a double banjo bolt on the right caliper.  Single line from lever to caliper.  Connected with double banjo with line leading from right to left side caliper.  ala 696
