I especially like the control mount hardware. Do you have the weight differences between the stock and Ti hardware? Title: Re: Titanium Fastener Kit for the 696 and 1100 Post by: peanut_man on May 21, 2009, 07:12:18 AM Other than weight, is there any other advantage for using Ti bolts? Just curious. Seem to be a fair amount of investment, if people do them there must be some good reasons.
Thanks for advice. Title: Re: Titanium Fastener Kit for the 696 and 1100 Post by: w7ck7d on May 21, 2009, 10:58:08 AM Shiney [thumbsup]
Title: Re: Titanium Fastener Kit for the 696 and 1100 Post by: hcomp on May 21, 2009, 02:46:37 PM Ti fasteners have come way down in price since ten years ago when I started dabbling with the stuff. We ran some bolts on our race cars, but very few due to price constraints. The same kit 3 years ago for a 696 would be in the $1500 range. Now it will be 70% less than that. I have not weighed the kit vs stock, but by my best estimation, only about 1 or 2 pounds will be saved. I don't have my brake bolts yet, but those are the biggest and heaviest. At least with those you are helping remove a bit of unsprung weight. The other factor of TI bolts is they do not corrode or rust. That is why if you have any pins or bolts in your body, they are titanium. In other words they are highly chemical resistant.
