Yes.
the shock may be a little shorter 5-10mm if I remember correctly so you will be lowering the bike a little.
Does your '99 have the rear suspension hoop? If I remember correctly the monsters didn't change from the ST frames until '01.
I remember this because I tried to install a showa rear off a '96 SS on my '94 and found that the resevoir angled into towards the motor, which meant the vertical cylinder exhaust pipe was in the way. :(

Ah, gotcha. Apologies for missing that point. I just remember how frustrated I was (and stupid for not checking first) after going to install the shock after having it all rebuilt. [bang]

So am I correct in reading that my 2000 monster will take a different shock than, say, an 05 620?
