Title: NOS fixes everything
Post by: erkishhorde on May 20, 2009, 10:45:53 AM
Stolen from another board.  ;D It doesn't take a certain brand of bike to make someone an idiot.  [laugh] Either the guy is totally stupid or he's putting on a good show. I didn't think anyone was that dumb.
http://www.gixxer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=226570 (http://www.gixxer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=226570)

Short version:
OP:  1 y/o GSXR is running rough so he goes to the gas station and dumps in 2 20oz bottles of NOS with half a tank of gas and rides for 10 mi. Then the bike won't start.

Others:  Wait, 2 bottles of NOS for half a motorcycle tank? Huh, what? One bottle is for like 12-20 gal.

OP:  The NOS shouldn't be a problem because it's just pure octane. It was 2 of the big blue bottles with an orange cap. <--- [laugh]

Others:  Solution given multiple times: drain the tank, clean it out and refill with proper octane gas.

Others:  Big blue bottle...? Like the one in your avatar? (http://carsmedia.ign.com/cars/image/article/782/782784/nos-in-your-belly--20070423022634423.jpg)

OP:  Yeah, it said NOS on it so it had to be the right stuff.  <----  [clap]

Um, so, if I read that right, he dumped NOS energy drink in his tank?  Am I missing something?

K, I can't see the actual thread, Gixxer is blocked.  I'm kinda ashamed to say I used to have a GSX-R ~

Energy drink in the tank to make the bike run better?  What a STUPID idea.  EVERYONE knows that you should use Mentos the Freshmaker for that!

One of my co-workers once had a company car that was running hot, called in from the middle of nowhere Minnesota looking for advice. She was told to let it cool, and see if the radiator was low. Popped the cap and couldn't see any coolant. Added a gallon of water, still nothing visible. Another gallon, and  then some more. Still wasn't full, but now the car made a loud, awful noise when the starter cranked and then nothing.

Turns out the radiator cap isn't the one on top of the engine with the icon that looks like a water pitcher on it. Who knew?

i dont think you can blame someone for that if they are completely mechanically retarded. though i dont know why the oil cap wasnt labeled with teh word OIL.

I've gone into AutoZone and asked (on separate occasions) for amber colored blinker fluid and a #710 oil cap.  The perky clerk began typing into the computer to find my stuff.  When they can't find it I ask, "Are you sure?"

Sometimes I'm just bored and ask for stupid things.  I can't help myself.   [bang]

Hilarious.

And somewhat tragic that you can play that joke on a parts guy/gal. [roll]
