Title: There comes a time.
Post by: Super T.I.B on May 21, 2009, 02:06:29 AM

 [moto]= :'(

 :'(= [bang]

I will probably be selling my baby. My lovely wife has told me that she worries constantly about me riding to work every day (120km round trip) and I can't blame her. We have talked about it constantly & have come up with only one viable solution.

I will be buying something with four wheels and I'm not in a position at this present time to have both. I did dream of upgrading soon but could not go through with it. DAMN GUILT TRIP!

Anyway, she will be up for sale soon. When we are in more of a financially better position, I will be back in the game.

Until then, I'm feeling very sad.

It's never good news to know someone is leaving the fold.
I do hope that you end up on another bike sooner rather than later.
Guess that's why we didn't see you out for a little ride last weekend.

Guilt is never an easy thing to deal with and I don't blame you not wanting to ride 120 k's a day just for the commute to work.

Going to miss you Super......

But hey your young, just got hitched, family coming along one day, wifey to take care of, mortgage and all that stuff.....  [coffee]

In 20 years from now, as you throw your leg over your new Ducati, you will look back and say "well that went pretty quick"...  [moto]

All the very best for the next 20 or so Super.....  [thumbsup]

Hey Adam, Trev beat me to it.!

Words of wisdom come better from the wise (read: old  [cheeky]) anyway.

Whilst I don't expect you to hang around here much (I wouldn't) you have the contact details of enough of us to say hello from time to time.
If you do choose to hang around, all the better  [thumbsup]

Anyway, don't be a complete stranger, and I'm sure if you hear a  loud exhaust note burbling away from an unmistakable Italian v-twin in your travels, it'll make you stop and smile, if only for a moment.

Stay cool fella!

Ya gotta do what ya gotta do.  [thumbsup]
But please tell me you are still going to hang around and stare in open mouthed amazement at all the silly things we all do?  ;D

I can see where your coming from. I didn't have a bike at all for years while my kids were young. That was more a lack of funds than a safety issue.

Of course its more dangerous than being in a car but the other day I was thinking that a man could just as easily die from swine flu or whatever. You could live a "safe" life but it still won't necessarily ensure your survival.

I hope you get back on two wheels soon. [moto]

Mate....

I sold mine for different (but in a way similar) reasons but I understand how you feel...   The call of the wild is strong...  Look around for a track hack!!!  They are cheap and require no rego or insurance and you can do track days with ya Duc mates!!!

20 YEARS!

Gimme about 2.  ;)

You all suck! You should be telling me to keep the bike! Or bugger your missus & upgrade anyway.  ;D

I'm still trying to figure out a way to get me out of this situation. A car and an upgrade. Just can't see myself driving a Corolla.  :-\

I heard smuggling drugs to/from Indonesia is a good, quick way to make money. I might look into that too.  ;)

Was with a woman once who wanted me to give up the bike, as I do now, I did 90% of my K's to and from work (800 to 1000 K's a week average). And she said it was too dangerous and she was supposedly worried about my safety ?

I stated that she had to trust in my ability to keep myself safe and not be stupid while I ride ! But , no SHE wanted me to stop riding because it could be bad for my health!  [roll]

She was/is a smoker so I asked her to give up the smokes because they were bad for her health and I didnt want her to get sick, well she told me to "Phugg Orf" it "just isnt the same!"  :P

Well I've still got my bike (I wish?? My K1 750 Honda 4, what a bike!) and of course now my Monster and am still riding at 57 pretty well every day. Its in the riders hands, you could break your neck getting out of the shower (Or base jumping, climbing mountains scuba diving etc )  ;D

But good luck mate!! You WILL be back.  [thumbsup]  [moto]  [cheeky]

Figured you didn't want to hear us saying but what about this option or anything.
You seem pretty much like the decision has been made, not I'm thinking of trading for a car.

We could all give you all of our thoughts on how to keep the bike and get a car for the work drive.
But at the end of the day I imagine you won't be very popular if you come back to the front door with
a shiiter for the work journey and a pre-loved 848 or S*R Monster saying it's just for fun on weekends.

So yeah I/we would fully support you in staying on two wheels, after all I have only been on bikes for a little over 2 yrs
and I can't imagine not having one around now.
But then you have seen that we all fully support you in deciding that for now you need to sell for now, until your
Wifey is sooooooooo totally sick of you moping around on weekends knowing that it is a spectacular day for riding
and that mostly likely there is someone you know out riding that you could be with.

So please stay on two wheels, buy a $5k Excel for work duties and go get an 848. You'll be  ;D forever, after all when you met you were a rider
it's something you do and being asked not to is a difficult.

Hope you go well whatever you decide.  [thumbsup]

Gee thanks H, I have this uncanny feeling that I am having the piss taken out of me??   ??? ( Wouldnt be the first time.  ;D  )

To me the number 57 only means I've been on this mortal coil that number of years, doesnt have anything to do with the general outlook on life.  ;D  [moto]  [evil]  [beer]

I get on better with younger people!! The old farts shit me !! Most of the mates wouldnt be much over 40??  [thumbsup]

Went  to the Grandsons choir day at school (9 year old) for the schools Grandad day and they werent going to let me in until he came up and said "Gidday Grampa".  My son thought it was hilarious!! (Prick, I'll get him back!  [evil] )

I guess what age has done has made me a little less tolerant of Bullshit artists and people who try to foist their will upon you, just cos they feel the need to exercise control, and to enjoy the time available to me! [thumbsup] [evil]

Super, get a shitbox for the commute and keep the duc you have - its better than no bike at all. I bought my first duc (the one I still have...) four months after my first was born. If you have always had bikes, they are in your blood, and being without one makes you a bit 'incomplete'...just my 2c, and feel free to ignore any crap I go on with.

And Dragon - 57!! good onya mate  [thumbsup] what a role model for us young tackers of 42 or thereabouts

Sounds good to me.

How about we buy a go 50/50 in a bike. I have it on weekends, you have it during the week. The logistics might be a problem though.

I'm still going through the sums in my head  :P, seeing as it was probably time for a newer/larger bike, she will be up for sale anyway methinks.  ???
