I took my bike in for my 600 mile service earlier this week.  At the same time, I had them install slip on Termis and a 14 tooth front sprocket.  Total installation and service was about $300, plus the cost of the parts. 

When I went to pick up the bike, I asked if they had installed the db killers (to reduce the noise and keep my neighbors happy).  The mechanic told me "No, about 95% of our customers do not want the db killers installed.  Oh, and make sure you have earplugs on when you ride."

I rode the bike home from the dealer without the db killers installed.  Luckily, I keep an extra pair of earplugs under my seat.

Holy $#!% were these pipes were loud!  They sounded incredible, and together with the 14 tooth gear were probably the best changes I could make to this bike.  I could easily tell a noticeable increase in power probably due to both modifications.  The bike was a lot easier to ride. 

Once I installed the db killers, the sound dropped dramatically.  I would say it is almost equivalent to the sound of the stock pipes.  I'm not sure I like it this quiet.  I wish there was some middle ground.

To anyone considering these modifications - DO IT NOW!  It really puts the "Monster" in the name.

Thanks very much for the post. I'm ordering termignonis tomorrow. Did you decide to keep the DB killers?

As for the "middle ground" comment.  You can try leaving one DB killer in and the other out.  I did that w/ my old Multistrada w/ Leo Vince.  I really like it.  It's just the right level of loudness.  Looks a bit funny from behind tho.  :)  But then you can probably claim the pipes were made by BMW as they like to be asymmetrical w/ their bikes.  LOL.

I will probably have to leave them in, as much as I don't want to.  My employer wouldn't look too highly upon me arriving with them out, nor would my neighbors.  I may remove them from time to time, if I can get them out.  Getting them in was easy. 

Just wondering..how come your wrench icon still lit up when you said the dealer just did the 600 service???
I think they suppose to reset than for you.

That's because I brought it in at about 580 miles instead of 600.  The dealer warned me about the wrench icon, but I didn't care at the time.  I'll stop by one of these days - he agreed to help me remove it if I brought it in.  It's not hurting anything.

Thanks for the vids! I always wanted to hear what the termis sounded like with the db killers in. Too lazy to put them back in. There are times I think they're way too loud...Big ear earplugs settled that (at least for me).  [thumbsup]

Running the risk of being too nosey, but what type of work would the employer mind how loud your motorcycle is.  With that being said, my boss and his boss both ride Harleys, so you can't even hear my Termi's in the parking lot. 

You can try and find a a baffle that has a larger internal diameter. That should make it somewhere in between.

If the baffle is closed on the inside (with only some holes drilled sideways) you could cut off the end to allow a bit more sound to come through.

I considered that, but wasn't sure if they sell just the db killers separately.

Termignoni nor Ducati sell them seperatly unless you can find them in the parts list.

I found some Sil baffles that fit my Termis nicely (www.daniele-moto.de (http://) (http://) but probably you can find them at other shops too)
