Title: Colonial parkway ride Sunday May 31
Post by: Bun-bun on May 22, 2009, 06:46:05 PM
I want to set up a group ride down colonial parkway to Jamestown, across the Jamestown ferry, and down Rt.10 for next Sunday.
Who's in?

I'm in--we can either meet at Redline or the Wawa on Hwy 17 in Grafton.

It's on the calender.  What time of day are we talking?  We can always stop at  [bacon]'s castle.  [popcorn]

Maybe 8:30-9:00 start from Norfolk, meet up with Mike at Redline around 9:15-9:45?
Too early?
Too late?
Anybody know the ferry schedule?

Sounds like a plan. I think I'll email Redline, let them know we'll be using their parking lot, and see if anyone there wants to come.

Hey Will--where is that road exactly?  I tried to Google Map it but couldn't find it.  Hope you can make the ride on Sunday.  Maybe I'll bring donuts. ;)

Pin a note to your forehead.

Got any suggestions for a good place for lunch? I owe Kris a lunch.

OK, found it.  Looks promising.

As for lunch, there's the Two Wheel Cafe on Holland Road in Suffolk.  Never been there, but it's listed as a biker restaurant.  I'm sure we can find a place along the way if that doesn't pan out.

Just a big brick house.  Probably not as exciting as it sound, but a good photo op infront of the  [bacon] sign.

Now its called Randzz's. It is a biker type place, a real dive. The beer is good, although ive never eaten there. This is going to be a fun ride. Jeff, if you and everyone else has time yall can check out the rest of my bikes.

Do you know any good restaurants in the Suffolk area Will?
On another note, i just finished changing my bike's oil--no leaks (woo-hoo!)--so am ready to go for Sunday.

Jeff--did you get an answer back from Redline if anyone from there will be joining us?

Will, I really want to check out your "stable". Hope we have the time. I've got the whole day.

I owe Kris a decent lunch,  with plenty of  [bacon] knowing him, so we need a decent lunch stop. There has to be somewhere in Suffolk that won't poison us, where we can eat good food without taking out a second mortgage.

Mike, no reply from Redline, but that's not unusual, and it doesn't mean no one will show from there.

That's too funny--I just found it online and was going to suggest we go there.  Baron's it is.  Unless Jeff or Kris or Dave would rather go to Hardee's  ;D

Barons sounds fine.
Chance of showers in the morning, but I don't care. I'm going anyway.

See y'all tomorrow.

It was great to finally meet you guys from the southside and get a ride in.  The next time you go to Poe's, let me know and I'll meet you in Surry or some other appropriate place along your route.

I hope you are not too sore today Jeff and also that your bike won't be down too long.  We have too much riding to do!

Mike

Thanks, Mike.
Well, I went to work today. Won't say I enjoyed it . . . but Kris was a big help.
Kris, CONGRATULATIONS! on your new job. Hope it's all good!
BTW, you're fired! ;D
Will, I need directions to that causeway I got so intimately involved with. I want to check it out and see what happened, maybe take some pics. BTW, that was a great ride.
The bike is nowhere near as bad off as could be. Damage is:
Front fender; minor scrape, needs paint.
Handlebar; toast
throttle & grip; toast
Front brake reservoir cap; scraped
Headlight ring; scraped
Right mirror; scraped
tank; dented, but no leaks
Right rearset; toast
Right peg; toast (But I already ordered new ones from Oberon a week ago)

Jeff, hope you are starting to feel better.

Something must be very confusing about Will's bike in the second picture.  It has us both scratching out heads.

Dave,thats funny.
Jeff, take 58 into Suffolk. Exit on 460W towards Emporia.
Take a right at the third light onto Lake Prince Rd.
Its a few miles down there.
